Eureka Swings Past Lady Eagles

Eureka swung their way past Sullivan by scoring in all but one inning on Friday and rolling to a 12-6 win over the Lady Eagles.

Sullivan (16-8) briefly took a 2-1 lead on Kayla Ulrich’s two-run homer in the third, but the Wildcats stormed on top with five runs in the bottom half.

Eureka piled on with three in the fourth, two in the fifth and one more in the sixth.

Ulrich totaled three hits, including two doubles. She also drove in three and scored twice.

Madyson Stahl and Hanna Johanning both had two hits. Johanning doubled and scored. Stahl had an RBI and scored.

Alexis Johnson and Riley Branson each had singles. Branson scored twice.

Johanning started and went 3.2 innings, allowing seven hits and five runs. She struck out three and walked five.

Jaedin Blankenship recorded the final seven outs. She allowed seven hits, seven runs and struck out three against two walks.

Eureka took a 1-0 lead in the first on Morgan Jones’ two-out RBI single. The Lady Eagles countered with Ulrich’s two-run blast.

The Wildcats plowed ahead with five runs in the third. They would lead 9-2 after four innings.

Ulrich doubled in Branson to bring home a run for the Lady Eagles in the fifth.

Down 12-3 in the seventh, Sullivan scored three more times. Ulrich hit her second double and scored on Stahl’s RBI bunt single. Stahl would later score on a wild pitch and Johanning stole home.
