Eagles Overcome Slow Start To Defeat Owensville

Sullivan got off to a slow start offensively Tuesday in their senior night finale against Owensville, but they ran amok in the next two periods on their way to a 72-52 win.

The Eagles (13-11) closed out Four Rivers Conference play 4-3 and tied for third with Hermann.

Owen Farrell scored 15 points to lead the Eagles. Josh Wiese scored 11 points and nine came in the first quarter as he provided all of Sullivan’s offense with three 3-pointers.

Jordan Woodcock added nine points on three 3’s.

Dillon Farrell, Jacob Hatcher and Kyle Lewis each had six points. Kolton Keen had five and Logan Kilburn scored four.

Austin Orick had three. Noah Stegeman, Blaine Sappington and Dallas Blankenship scored two. Charlie Lohden added one.

Wiese gave the Eagles a 6-0 lead with a pair of 3-pointers in the first three minutes. He would drain another 3 with 1:43 left to give the Eagles a 9-5 lead. Owensville would tie the game on a drive by Derek Brandt.

Sullivan came out on fire in the second quarter, going on a 7-0 run. They extended the lead to 21-11 on a 3-pointer by Woodcock with 4:58 left in the half.

A three-point play by Keen and another 3 by Woodcock, his third of the quarter, gave the Eagles a 29-15 lead.

Lewis scored on a drive with 50 seconds to go, giving Sullivan a 35-19 advantage. They led 35-20 at the break.

Owen Farrell’s three-point play to start the second half pushed the lead higher. He scored nine points in the period and Sullivan closed out on an 8-0 run to carry a 54-30 lead into the fourth quarter.
