Eagles Open Season Friday Against Central

Sullivan will open the season for the sixth straight year against Park Hills Central Friday night at home.

The Eagles will try to make it a winning debut for new head coach Jimmy Tucker. Sullivan has lost five straight games to Central, which will be without star running back Triston Campbell.

According to the Daily Journal, Campbell tore his ACL and LCL during a scrimmage and will miss his senior season.

Campbell rushed for 1,035 yards and scored 19 touchdowns last season. He also was one of the team’s premiere defensive players. The Daily Journal reported that Campbell has committed verbally to play Division I football at the Air Force Academy.

The Rebels always present a formidable challenge for Sullivan. They are five-time district champions with seven returning starters on both sides of the ball. Central defeated Sullivan 39-19 last season.

Central returns quarterback Jace Bland, who threw for 1,438 yards, 15 touchdowns and ran for 463 yards.
