Eagles Open Season At Fleet Feet Classic

Sullivan’s cross country team opened the season Thursday at the Fleet Feet Kickoff Classic in Arnold, with the girls finishing 10th place.

Freshman Maggie Jones led the team by taking 23rd and crossing the finish line in 13:11.60. Only two other freshmen finished better than Jones.

Overall, there were 104 participants in the race.

Junior Vittoria Polanowski was 59th with a time of 14:18.40. Senior Baylee Coats took 63rd in 14:27.20. Freshman Kayleigh Willman was 79th in 15:09.40. Sophomore Porscha Polanowski took 87th in 15:29.90.

Sullivan had 270 points. Lindbergh won the event with 40 points. Herculaneum took second, Festus was third, Nerinx Hall finished fourth and St. Joseph’s Academy rounded out the top five.

Seckman was sixth, Owensville seventh, Northwest eighth and Ursuline Academy ninth.

Following Sullivan was Affton, Cape Central and Arcadia Valley.

Boys

Sullivan’s boys took 14th and junior Ethan Light was the team’s best finisher by taking 58th with a time of 11:35.60. Junior JC Thomas was 80th in 12:15.40. Senior Alec McCormick came in 90th at 12:48.50. Junior Sam Walker took 96th in 13:18 and senior Dawson Amheiser was 97th in 13:19. Senior Tim Bandy was 104th in 14:26.30.

Festus took first overall. Hillsboro came in second, Lindbergh was third, Northwest was fourth and Seckman fifth.

Herculaneum came in sixth, Owensville seventh, Vianney eighth, Affton ninth and Chaminade took 10th.

Cape Central finished 11th, Bishop DuBourg 12th and Arcadia Valley 13th.
