Eagles Grapplers Take Down St. James, Warrenton; Fall To Union

A tiebreaker against Union was the only thing separating the Eagles from sweeping a quad meet Wednesday at home.

The Eagles wrestling team dominated St. James 66-12 and Warrenton 49-15, but lost to Four Rivers Conference foe Union 37-36.

Dillon Witt (106), Jonanthan Krygiel (138), Kobie Blankenship (145), Ian Kilburn (152), Evan Shetley (182) and Tristan Brown (285) won all three of their matches.

Joseph Lewis (120) Ty Shetley (126) and Isaac Peregoy (160/170) won twice. 

Union

Witt pinned Union’s Dominick Beine in 1:36, Warrenton’s Bryce Edison in 1:20 and St. James’ Kaylynn Crocker in 43 seconds.

Krygiel won by forfeit against St. James, pinned Warrenton’s Tate Chandler in 48 seconds and took a 10-3 decision against Union’s Josh Wegescheide. 

Bankenship pinned Union’s Ben Cox in 1:47, St. James’ Gavin Jewell in 56 seconds and Warrenton’s Zach Alexander in 51 seconds.

Kilburn had a 5-4 decision against Union’s Jacob Nowak, an 8-0 major decision against Brent Wielms and pinned St. James’ Donnie Wehmeier in 52 seconds.

Evan Shetley pinned Union’s Luke Siddens in 2:20 and Warrenton’s Jeff Napier in 3:39. He won by forfeit against St. James.

Tristan Brown won a 3-0 decision against Union’s Connor Ward. He pinned Warrenton’s Thomas Ray in 1:30 and St. James’ Donald Grouns in 1:58.

Lewis pinned St. James’ Elijah Wilcox in 3:15 and won by forfeit against Warrenton. He was pinned by Union’s Dylan Stalcup in 30 seconds.

Ty Shetley had a 12-6 decision against Union’s Carter Sickmeier, pinned St. James’ Frank Parsons in 1:56 and fell to Warrenton’s Jake Evrard by a 4-2 decision.

Peregoy pinned Union’s Dane Fennessey in 1:36 and St. James’ Lance Ybarra in 1:22 while wrestling at 170. He lost a 7-3 decision to Warrenton’s Jerrett Villinger.

Trey Eplin (170) won by sudden victory against Warrenton’s Bret Lewis, 6-2.

Luke Landwehr (195) won by forfeit against St. James. He was pinned by Union’s David Clark and Warrenton’s Colton Rice.

Trevor Hamblin (220) had a forfeit win against St. James and lost to Warrenton’s Brady Weir and Union’s Haiden Meyer.

Junior Varsity

In a junior varsity dual between Sullivan and Union, the Eagles’ Victor Wienhoff (132) lost to Jordan Waldman.

Ethan Krygiel (145) pinned Bowen Ward.

Donovan Counts (170) pinned Bradley Scott.

Wyatt Medlock (195) dropped a decision to Kyler Martin.

Timothy Ryan (285) pinned Hunter Triplett. 

Josh Johnson (113) fell to Hunter Garrett.
