Eagles Fall To Washington, Summit
Sullivan’s hopes for stacking wins out the gate in the new year was dashed in a back-to-back against Washington and Summit.
The Eagles were unable to build off their first win of the season, falling 69-57 at Washington on Thursday and came up short Friday at Summit, 58-55.
Washington
A furious rally by Sullivan in the second quarter wasn’t enough.
Washington dampened the Eagles’ hopes for a victory by racing out to a 20-6 lead after one quarter.
It put the Eagles too far behind even though they were nearly even across the final three.
Sullivan jumpstarted their offense with an 18-point outburst in the second quarter and cut into Washington’s lead.
They trailed by a manageable 31-24 deficit at the half.
Washington squeezed out a 19-15 advantage to carry a 50-39 lead into the final period.
Sullivan’s offense put points up, but were unable to slow down Washington’s attack.
Owen Farrell led the Eagles with a season-high 20 points, while Dillon Farrell poured in 15. Twelve of those came on 3-pointers.
Jordan Woodcock added 13.
Blaine Sappington finished with four.
Kyle Lewis scored three and Noah Stegeman had one.
Summit
Sullivan entered the fourth quarter of Friday’s game at Summit with a 48-47 lead.
Instead of escaping with a hard-fought victory, it was the host Falcons mounting a strong effort to overtake Sullivan.
The Eagles were outscored 11-7 in the fourth quarter and lost 58-55.
Eleven 3-pointers weren’t enough for Sullivan.
Woodcock scored all 12 of his points beyond the arc, while nine of Dillon Farrell’s 11 came from long-range.
Owen Farrell again paced the scoring effort. He provided 18 points.
Blaine Sappington finished with six, while Gabe Dace and Lewis each had two.
JD McReynolds added two.
