Eagles End Regular Season With Victory Over Owensville

Sullivan overwhelmed Owensville on Wednesday with their typical 3-point barrage and won 79-45 in their regular season finale.

In a preview of Saturday’s Class 4 District 10 first round matchup, the Eagles battered Owensville with 14 3-pointers. 

Sullivan (19-6) finished 6-1 in the Four Rivers Conference.

The Eagles led 24-9 after the first period after draining seven 3s, including three each by Cody McKinney and Landon Hoffman. Austin Frye had a 3-pointer at the buzzer.

McKinney finished with a game-high 22 points and hit six treys. Hoffman added 14 points on four 3s. Jacob Rohrer, Jacob Hatcher and Joshua Wiese each had eight points. Cameron Cunningham scored seven. Frye, Owen Farrell and Austin Lewis had three. Austin Orick scored two and Dillon Farrell scored one.

Hoffman and McKinney traded 3s to open up a 12-3 lead midway through the first quarter. Cunningham converted a three-point play at the 2:47 mark. 

The Dutchmen cut the lead to 15-9 until McKinney swished two more triples. Frye’s 3-pointer at the buzzer gave Sullivan a 24-9 lead.

Hatcher found Cunningham down low to start the second quarter, which was Sullivan’s second two-point field goal. McKinney and Hoffman each drained 3s to put Sullivan ahead 32-13. Lewis converted another three-point play for the Eagles. 

After a put-back by Rohrer, Wiese and McKinney each hoisted up 3s to establish a 47-21 lead. The Eagles led 47-23 at halftime.
