Eagles Defeat St. Charles West For Sixth Straight Win
Sullivan turned away St. Charles West with a comeback victory Friday, overcoming a fourth quarter deficit to win 59-56.
The win gave the Eagles (9-1) their sixth straight as they returned to the court following a two-week layoff.
St. Charles West led 43-36 going into the final period after outscoring Sullivan 17-8 out of halftime. The Eagles overcame it with a 23-point burst to finish.
Cody McKinney scored 19 points to lead the Eagles. Landon Hoffman added 13 and Austin Lewis chipped in with 11.
All three players had three 3-pointers.
Austin Frye scored nine points, Jacob Rohrer had four and Josh Wiese three.
Trent Champagne paced all scorers with 25 points. Clark Henderson and John Wilson each scored 12.
St. Charles West shot 60 percent from the floor, 65 percent from beyond the arc and finished 8-11 at the free throw line.
The Warriors led 20-17 after one period, but the Eagles slowed them down in the second and took a 28-26 lead at halftime.
St. Charles West outscored Sullivan 17-8 in the third quarter, but watched it slip away in the fourth.
Washington Tournament
Sullivan was back on the court Tuesday for the first round of the Washington Tournament.
The second-seeded Eagles faced host Washington at 5:30 p.m. Sullivan knocked off Washington 54-52 in December.
If Sullivan won, they would advance to face the winner of St. Dominic-Union on Friday at 8:30 p.m. A loss would see them play Friday at 5:30 p.m.
Tournament finals are scheduled for Saturday, beginning with seventh place at 1 p.m., consolation at 2:30 p.m., third place at 4 p.m. and the championship game at 5:30 p.m.
St. Charles is the No. 1 seed and faced the St. Louis Blue Knights. Francis Howell Central is the No. 4 seed and faced No. 5 Borgia.
