Eagles Claim Three Championships At Bob Georger Classic
Sullivan’s wrestling team took sixth place Saturday at the 41st annual Bob Georger Classic in De Soto, led by championships from Dillon Witt (106), Isaac Peregoy (160) and Evan Shetley (182).
Ty Shetley (126), Trey Eplin (170) and Tristan Brown (285) took fifth.
Witt wrestled three matches and won all three under three minutes. He pinned Liberty Wentzville’s Raed Hague in 2:43, North County’s Cody White in 2:45 and Poplar Bluff’s Gatlin Taylor in 2:29.
Peregoy pinned De Soto’s Kameren Brooks in 3:34, then won decisions against Parkway West’s Brayden Eddy and Valle Catholic’s Trey Huck.
Evan Shetley pinned Lexington’s Jaden Emerson in 1:20 and Fort Zumwalt East’s Jaxon Scholand in 2:58. He took a 9-2 decision against Potosi’s Kalub Evans and won by major decision against Parkway West’s Jackson Barnhart, 9-0.
Ty Shetley had a 5-3 decision in the opening round against Union’s Carter Sickmeier. He won by major decision over North County’s Amos Littrell. Central’s Kade Willis defeated Shetley by technical fall and Poplar Bluff’s Quinten Bell won by an 8-1 decision. Shetley finished the day with a 6-0 decision against Fort Zumwalt East’s Dylan McCoy.
Eplin lost to De Soto’s Logan Zimmermann by fall. He pinned Cape Notre Dame’s Alex Diebold in 1:47 and Parkway West’s Alican Yumuk by a 5-3 decision. Against Union’s Ryder Kuenzel, he lost an 8-2 decision. Eplin pinned Windsor’s Austin Henry in 4:43 to take fifth.
Brown pinned Union’s Connor Ward in 5:35. He fell to Hillsboro’s Joe Becker and Sumner’s Lorenzo Jenkins. He defeated Ward by a 3-0 decision in the fifth place match.
Joseph Lewis (120) went 2-2, with a 3-1 decision against Potosi’s Austyn Edmiston and a forfeit victory.
Jonathan Krygiel (138) won three matches, including a major decision against Potosi’s Jordan Shaw, a pin over Lexington’s Jack Breid and a major decision against Parkway West’s Owen Beveridge.
Luke Landwehr (195) pinned Liberty’s Oliver Fensterman, but came up short in his two other matches.
