Boys Wrestlers Win Four Rivers Conference Tournament; Girls Finish Third

Sullivan’s boys wrestling team won the Four Rivers Conference Tournament on Tuesday at St. Clair High School.

The Eagles bested the five-team field with 129 points, topping the podium in five weight classes.

Dillon Witt (126), Adam Peregoy (138), Jordan Rice (182), Kyler Martin (220) and Jeremiah Rodriguez (285) had title victories. 

Sullivan’s girls wrestling team took third place with 84 points.

Boys Results

Witt (9-0) had to win just one match, pinning St. Clair’s Gavin Shoemate at 1:39.

Peregoy took an 11-7 decision in the first round against Pacific’s Ian Sizemore, pinned St. James’ Ryan Spurgeon (5-1) in 26 seconds and won a 7-4 decision over St. Clair’s Bass Hughes.

In the title match, he secured a fall over Union’s Joey Marcink at 1:05.

Rice (7-2) won his first match by fall at 3:43 and defeated St. Clair’s Cohen Burton in 14 seconds to reach the final round. He pinned St. James’ Lance Ybarra with four seconds left in the first round.

Martin (10-0) won all three of his matches in the first round.

He pinned Pacific’s Nathaniel Knaff at 1:06, St. James’ Luca Giacolone at 45 seconds and Union’s Chris McQueen at 1:06.

Rodriguez (6-4) received two byes and pinned St. James’ Tyler Skaggs in 49 seconds to advance to the championship. With the clock winding down, he pinned Pacific’s Luke Gerling at 1:51 to claim the title.

Dominic Ransom (120) and Ty Shetley (152) were runner-up in their weight classes.

Ransom (7-3) was 2-2 on the day, winning both his matches in the first round. He opened the tournament with a fall over Union’s Dominic Beine in 1:15, then lost to St. James’ Frank Parsons and Pacific’s Ethan Flaherty. He pinned Gabe Martinez of St. Clair in 1:01 in his final bout of the day.

Shetley (9-1) suffered his first defeat of the season in the championship match against Pacific’s Callum Sitek. 

Shetley pinned St. James’ Kaiden Snyder and Union’s Wyatt Davis. After getting a bye into the final round, he fell by 8-0 major decision to Sitek.

Sam Hect (132), Colton Brendel (145) and Bennett Sherrell reached the podium, taking third.

Hect (2-5) was 1-2, defeating St. James’ Elijah Wilcox by a 12-11 decision.

Brendel (4-4) split four matches, pinning St. James’ Stiehl Roberge in 50 seconds and closing out the day with a fall over Pacific’s Mason Lucas in 3:41.

Sherrell (5-4) also took two of four matches. He had a 10-1 major decision over Union’s Michael Alvarado and a fall at 1:32 against St. James’ Ryan Hadley.

Franky Erxleben (160) was fourth, winning one of his four matches. He pinned St. Clair’s Adrian Arguilez.

Girls Results

Marina Smith (7-4) lost to St. Clair’s Audrey DeClue. She took second.

Cassandra Pritchett (5-6) was third.

Hannah Sumner (6-5) finished second, losing to St. Clair’s Hannah Thacker.

Julianna Graddy (1-3) was fourth.

Maria Schatzl (8-5) placed second, splitting a pair of matches. She defeated Union’s Alexis Lopez in 34 seconds.

Hiley Pritchett (2-4) and Destiny Martinez (2-2) both third.

Jaiden Hodges (12-1) came in second, defeating St. Clair’s Liberty McKenzie in 19 seconds. 

Reya Bristow (6-3) also finished second. She pinned Pacific’s Alyssa Sigler in 40 seconds.
