Boys Seeded Second In 75th Annual St. James Tournament

Sullivan will wrap up their regular season tournaments next week when they compete in the 75th annual St. James Tournament.

The Eagles are seeded second in a field led by top-seeded Blair Oaks (Class 3 No. 2). 

The tournament tips off Monday, January 20 when fourth-seeded Fatima meets fifth-seeded Waynesville at 6 p.m.

Blair Oaks follows against eighth-seeded Licking at 7:30 p.m.

St. James received the third seed and open Tuesday’s action at 6:30 p.m. against sixth-seeded Rolla.

Sullivan closes out the first round against No. 7 seed Salem at 7:30 p.m.

The consolation semifinals get underway Thursday, January 23 at 6 p.m. when the Sullivan-Salem loser plays the St. James-Rolla loser at 6 p.m.

The Blair Oaks-Licking loser plays the Fatima-Waynesville loser at 7:30 p.m.

Championship semifinals are set for Friday, January 24 when the Sullivan-Salem winner plays the St. James-Rolla winner at 6:30 p.m.

The Blair Oaks-Licking winner plays the Fatima-Waynesville winner at 8 p.m.

The seventh place game will be held that night at 5 p.m.

Consolation is scheduled for Saturday, January 25 at 5 p.m. Third place follows at 6:30 p.m. and the championship game at 8 p.m.

Sullivan is looking for a return to the title game and a possible rematch against Blair Oaks. 

The Falcons are 9-1 with their only loss coming against Oxford High School (Mississippi). 

St. James also is 9-1. The Tigers’ only loss came against Sullivan on December 6 in the FCNB Bank-It championship.

Since then, they have rolled off seven straight victories. 

St. James topped Rolla 81-56 on December 10. Rolla is 5-7 and struggling a year after being upset by Sullivan in the district championship.

Salem is 4-2 and last knocked off Cuba 70-42 on December 20.

Waynesville’s record stands at 5-2 while Fatima is 5-5. 

Licking is 5-6 with three straight losses.
