Boys Close Out Strong Against Duchesne

Sullivan remained unbeaten Tuesday by overtaking Duchesne in the second half and winning 64-57.

The Eagles (4-0) trailed 31-29 going into halftime. They emerged from the locker room to outscore the Pioneers 35-26 over the final two quarters.

Following a pair of hard-fought, close victories against Farmington and St. James in the previous week’s FCNB Bank-It Tournament, Sullivan again showed toughness. They took care of the ball and committed just six turnovers.

Free throws were the big difference.

Duchesne committed 24 fouls and sent the Eagles to the line 31 times. During their first three games, good free throw shooting eluded Sullivan, but they converted 25 attempts against the Pioneers.

Duchesne made it to the charity stripe just eight times.

Owen Farrell went off for 29 points to continue building off his hot start to the season.

Farrell was 4-for-7 beyond the arc, while adding five rebounds and four assists.

At the free throw line, he was 15-for-18, good for 83 percent.

Dillon Farrell provided 12 points and was a perfect 4-for-4 from the floor. Kolton Keen scored 11 points to go along with four rebounds.

Jordan Woodcock scored nine points and Josh Wiese had three. Wiese also had four assists.

Jacob Hatcher collected six rebounds, including four on the offensive glass.

Mark Yarborough scored 23 points for the Pioneers. Ryan Gancarz scored 15 and Cam Lee added 11.

Sullivan led the Pioneers 17-13 after one period, but were outscored 18-12 in the second.

The Eagles charged ahead in the third and led 47-44 going into the final period.
