Adams, Huskey Compete At State Meet

Sullivan’s Carter Adams and Isiah Huskey competed Saturday at the Class 3 state meet in Jefferson City.

Adams (18:08.32) took 63rd and finished in the top half of the field. Huskey (18:28.02) was 86th.

Both runners were making their first appearance at state. 

Adams was third among area runners. Pacific’s Will Green (17:07.10) took 12th. St. Francis Borgia’s Ben Juengling (17:43.60) came in 31st. 

Other area runners were Borgia’s Drew Snider (18:16.57); Owensville’s Austin Terry (18:26.47); Borgia’s Tony Willenbrink (18:34.87) and Grant Straatmann (18:43.30); Pacific’s Noah Benzabeh (18:51.01); Union’s Dominick Beine (18:54.44); Pacific’s Benjamin Brunjes (18:58.09), Brayden Van Meter (19:09.86) and Collin Haley (19:14.07); Borgia’s Scott Bonastia (19:14.71) and Nicholas Weber (19:16.29) and Pacific’s Dylan Mooney (20:31.01) and Dylan Smith (22:05.95). 

Festus’ Maxwell McDaniel (16:12.10) won the 164-runner field and led the Tigers to the team championship with 43 points.

Bolivar had 71 points to take runner-up. Smithville, Herculaneum and Clayton rounded out the top five.

They were followed by Helias, Pleasant Hill, East Newton, Westminster, Borgia, Lutheran St. Charles, Kirksville, Pacific, St. Charles West, Clinton and Pembroke Hill.

Girls

Bolivar took the team championship with 77 points, holding off Festus. Smithville, De Soto and Westminster all finished in the top five.

Owensville was the area’s highest team finish and took sixth. The Dutchgirls were followed by Lutheran South, MICDS, Helias, Lawson, St. Charles, Incarnate Word Academy, Hollister, St. Pius X (Kansas City), Marshfield and Cameron.

Owensville’s Sophia Ashner was the area’s top finisher. Ashner (20:16.87) came in eighth place.
