Susan B. Schmitt

Susan B. Schmitt, age 61 of Sullivan, Missouri passed away Thursday, August 23, 2018 at Seville Care Center in Salem, Missouri.

Susan Barbara was born on February 16, 1957 to Virgil and Laura Evelyn (Graddy) Schmitt in Rolla, Missouri. She attended Sullivan schools and graduated from Sullivan High school, Class of 1977. Susan babysat for many of her nieces & nephews, as well as some of her close friends’ children, for many years. She was a quiet and loving person who enjoyed watching television, especially sports. Susan was an avid Cardinal Baseball, Blues Hockey and NASCAR fan. She was raised and baptized Catholic and attended Holy Martyrs of Japan Catholic Church until ill health kept her from attending. Susan was a wonderful and caring daughter, sister, aunt and great aunt and will be remembered for her sweet and loving personality.

Susan is survived by her brother, Charles Schmitt of Washington, MO; three sisters, Joyce Topolski of Rolla, MO, Jane Schmitt of Sullivan, and Marilyn Ware and husband Shannon of Sullivan; nieces and nephews, Laura Erxleben and husband Chris, Christopher and Megan Ware, Gary Whitney and wife Kim, Tiffany Bandowski and husband Richard, Michelle Bellmer and husband Bart, Melissa Whitford and husband Nathan, and Charlie Scheer and wife Shannon; a host of great nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Susan was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil and Evelyn (Graddy) Schmitt; brother, Allen Schmitt; and two sisters, Judy and Shirley Schmitt.

Graveside services were conducted 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at Holy Martyrs Cemetery in Japan, MO, with Father Tim Henderson as the officiant.

Visitation was held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., Tuesday, at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan.
