Strain-Japan School-Red Ribbon Week

Red Ribbon Week at Strain-Japan was filled with activities to help build behaviors that could prevent students from turning to drugs when things get rough. Our week started with everybody dressing crazy to show their individualism. The Student Council showed a video on Peer Pressure and did some activities with the students. The next day, everybody wore red to make the students aware that anybody could be a target for bullying. The Student Council performed skits to show what bullying looks like and Mrs. Studdard, Strain-Japan's principal, addressed the student body on keeping our school Bully Free. The next day, we all felt the positive feelings we had for ourselves and for each other by the way we dressed and by the activity Student Council did with the students. The last day of activities concentrated on the student's ability to create a natural high for themselves. Everybody wore something that had a favorite person, place, sport, or thing on it that made them feel good. Kayla Watters from Preferred Family Healthcare brought some activities to show the students the bad side effects of using drugs and alcohol. The students all signed the banner to keep our school bully and drug free. Then the students tied messages to balloons to let others know what makes them happy and then released them for a true natural high.
