St. Anthony School News
St. Anthony School honored veterans last Friday with a short ceremony and reception. Student Ambassadors welcomed each veteran and gave them a handmade card. The ceremony began with the presentation of the flag, a prayer and the song "God Bless America," sung by the entire student body. The Ambassadors then read a litany of veterans (sent in by their families) after which all responded, "Thank you for your service." All veterans present were then recognized. Everyone proceeded to the flagpole, two students bearing white wreaths with red stars of veterans' names, to recite the Pledge of Allegiance. A short reception followed in the cafeteria. One of the veterans, Mr. Mike Simmons, stayed to speak with some of the students about his time in the service.
