Is "I'm tired" your most used phrase? Endocrinologists like Dr. Jennifer Cheng, DO, hear it on repeat. She often starts by asking people about their habits, and not just how much sleep they're getting or their nighttime routine. What we do throughout the day, including our morning habits, matters.

"People say, 'I’m so tired!' but don't understand the reasons why," Dr. Cheng, the chief of endocrinology at Hackensack Meridian Jersey Shore University Medical Center, tells Parade. "There are things you can do to help give yourself better energy."

For instance, what we eat and drink for breakfast can affect our energy at lunchtime.

"High carbohydrate and sugary foods can cause your body to produce more insulin and put more energy towards digesting, thereby making you feel tired," Dr. Cheng says.

She also urges people to drink water—yes, she said water, not coffee—for energy. Dehydration can lead to fatigue and make it harder to concentrate, and water is the best drink to protect against it.

Dr. Joseph Monye, MD, an endocrinologist with Kaiser Permanente in Maryland, regularly talks to people about how stable blood sugar levels affect energy.

"Eating a balanced diet and not skipping meals helps keep your energy even through the day," Dr. Monye says. "Your daily habits add up. Small routines around...food and caffeine can shape how energetic or tired you feel, and a few small changes can leave you feeling less worn down."

The Morning Habit That Depletes Energy, Endocrinologists Warn

According to four endocrinologists, drinking coffee before breakfast can cause a deep energy dip by noon. You may get a burst of energy because caffeine absorbs more quickly on an empty stomach, but it'll also wear off fairly quickly.

"In some individuals, especially those who are sensitive to caffeine, drinking coffee without food can also contribute to hunger, irritability or cravings later in the morning, which can further affect energy levels," says Dr. Victoria Finn, MD, a board-certified physician with Medical Offices of Manhattan and a labfinder.com contributor. "While not everyone experiences these effects, they are extremely common."

So, Dr. Finn says that if you're so over your energy plummeting by noon, you may want to time your coffee so you have it with a balanced breakfast.

4 Things That Happen When You Drink Coffee Before Eating

Dr. Monye points out that "caffeine works fast." Your body fully absorbs it, and you become more alert within 45 minutes. That's the point, right? Yes, but it can come back to haunt you later if you have coffee before eating, by causing lunchtime fatigue.

Here's what happens to the body when you drink coffee before eating, and why it affects your energy.

1. Caffeine absorbs more quickly on an empty stomach

Dr. Finn knows that people drink coffee before doing anything else in the morning for a quick jolt.

"When coffee is consumed on an empty stomach, caffeine is absorbed very quickly since there is no food present to slow digestion," she says, explaining that caffeine blocks adenosine, a chemical in your brain that supports sleepiness. That's why you feel more awake and energized after a cup of Joe.

"Unfortunately, the energy boost is temporary," Dr. Finn explains. "Many people start experiencing jitters, shakiness, increased anxiety or a feeling that their energy suddenly drops a few hours later. This happens because the stimulating effect wears off and the underlying fatigue becomes more noticeable."

2. Added sugar can crush energy

Some like it black, others prefer their coffee sweet. It's understandable, but endocrinologists warn that adding sugar to your coffee can zap energy later in the day. Dr. Cheng shares that sugary beverages can cause blood sugar to spike, then drop after your body releases the hormone insulin, contributing to the afternoon crash.

3. Cortisol plays a role

Cortisol is a stress hormone, and it can affect how alert you feel—you've got to be awake to escape the (figurative) bear chasing you, right? It rises in the morning, peaking about an hour after you rise and shine. Caffeine can trigger higher cortisol levels.

"This can then lead to a 'stress then crash' pattern," explains Dr. Sudha K. Yalamanchi, MD, an endocrinologist with Endeavor Health. "This is especially damaging when there are no calories to sustain energy."

4. Your gut may also be exhausted

It's not just your brain that feels rather "blah" a few hours after drinking coffee on an empty stomach. Dr. Finn shares that this morning habit can lead to acid reflux, heartburn, nausea or general stomach discomfort.

"Even when these symptoms are mild, they can be distracting enough to affect how a person feels throughout the day," she says. "Rather than feeling energized and productive, they may feel uncomfortable, sluggish or simply 'off.'"

How To ‘Optimize’ Your Coffee for Better Energy: 3 Ways

Endocrinologists say that it's not necessary to ditch your morning cup of coffee for more sustained energy. A little intention can keep your energy up longer so you don't crash by noon. We got endocrinologists to share their top three tips on how.

1. Prioritize certain nutrients at breakfast

Dr. Finn suggests having your morning coffee with a breakfast that includes protein, fiber and healthy fats. Think chia seed pudding or avocado toast on whole-grain bread with a poached egg and fruit salad.

"Prioritizing protein, fiber and healthy fats can help provide a steadier source of energy throughout the day without early afternoon energy slumps," she says.

If you're not hungry or don't have time for a balanced breakfast, Dr. Finn says it's important at least to have a protein-rich morning snack with your coffee to help with caffeine absorption.

2. Consider waiting an hour before drinking coffee after waking up

We know it's hard, but it might actually pay off to hold off on your morning coffee.

"Your cortisol is already doing the work of waking you up in that first hour, so giving it time to peak before your first cup means the caffeine adds to your alertness rather than overlapping with your body's own wake-up hormone," Dr. Monye says.

3. Avoid high-sugar additives

The less sugar in the morning, the better—at least as far as energy levels and Dr. Cheng are concerned.

"The sugars lead to insulin release and can lead to worsening of sugar spike and crash," she says. "Consider adding milk or sugar-free alternatives, or adding cinnamon or nutmeg."

Law Roach has dressed some of the biggest names in music and film, but there's one legendary client he never got the chance to work with.

The celebrity stylist, 47, opened up to PEOPLE about his approach to choosing clients, revealing that despite his star-studded roster, he's never actually gone looking for specific names to dress.

"I really believe the universe puts people in my life and vice versa exactly at the moment they're supposed to be, so I've never had a wishlist of people I wanted to dress," Roach explained.

There's one exception to that philosophy, though. "The only person I would've loved to dress that is no longer with us is Prince," he said, pointing to the music icon's boundary-pushing fashion sense, from statement heels to lace gloves and sequins, as a major inspiration.

Roach, known as an "image architect" to stars like Zendaya, has plenty of career-defining looks to point to instead. Among them is Zendaya's dramatic Mugler robot suit, worn for the 2024 London premiere of 'Dune: Part Two,' which she later called "meant to be."

Another standout: dressing Céline Dion in a cloud-like Stephane Rolland Haute Couture gown for a performance of "My Heart Will Go On." Roach said the reaction from the crowd stuck with him. "I've never seen so many grown men cry," he said.

Beyond his styling work, Roach is returning for season 22 of 'Project Runway,' joining judges Heidi Klum, Nina Garcia and Tyra Banks. He hinted that fans should expect plenty of tension both on and off the runway.

"There's a lot of drama, which makes the show great," he said. "I also think there's a dynamic and a bit of drama between the judges. I like to push everyone's buttons."

As for his reputation in the industry, Roach has embraced his nickname with a twist all his own.

"I'm fashion mommy. I'm the mother," he joked.

Amy Schumer has never been one to shy away from reality, and the comedy queen's new bikini photo is showing off her 50-pound weight loss and her C-section scar.

The actress and comedian, 45, who transitioned from stand-up standout to Comedy Central fame with her beloved series, Inside Amy Schumer, went on to film roles in projects like Trainwreck and I Feel Pretty. After dropping 50 pounds, the funny gal just shared a new photo of herself in a skimpy white bikini. In a photo shared to her Instagram Stories, Schumer showed off her svelte frame and didn't hesitate to point out her C-section scar.

Opening Up About Her Weight Loss

In recent years, Schumer has gotten lots of press for her weight loss transformation, including her use of GLP-1 medications like Wegovy and Mounjaro. Schumer has previously spoken out on social media about why she decided to lose weight. In a now-deleted Instagram reel, she said she did so to “survive” Cushing syndrome, a condition caused by too much of the hormone cortisol in the body, according to the Cleveland Clinic.

“I didn’t lose 30 lbs, I lost 50,” Schumer explained. “Sorry for whatever feeling it’s giving you that I lost that weight.” She went on to say that she’s now able to play tag with her son, Gene.

What Has Amy Schumer Said About Using Weight Loss Medications?

One thing fans can always expect from Schumer is honesty. The actress and comedian has spoken candidly with the press about her health. Back in 2023, she appeared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen and revealed that while she tried using Wegovy several years ago, the side effects were horrific, and she became devastatingly ill as a result. Schumer told Cohen the drug made her “so sick” that she couldn’t even play with her son and had to ditch the medication.

“Like, a year ago, I tried it. I was one of those people that felt so sick and couldn’t play with my son. I was so skinny, and he’s throwing a ball at me and [I couldn’t],” she shared.

More recently, Schumer said she’s been having a “really good experience” with a different drug called Mounjaro.

 “My symptoms of being in perimenopause have disappeared. My hair is fuller, my skin is better, I have more energy. I want to ‘get down’ more, if you know what I mean,” Schumer shared in a video taken while sitting in her car. “I’m talking about sex.”

Rock giants Rufio have made a dramatic return to music with a powerful new single.

Released on July 10, 2026, "Maps" marks the California rockers' first piece of fresh music since the 2010 album, Anybody Out There.

"'Maps' is a mix between young Rufio and where we're at now," guitarist and vocalist Scott Sellers said in a statement shared with Parade. "The song is about a rekindled connection after 20 years of silence. We've grown a lot as musicians and humans,"

The track is set to drop ahead of the band's upcoming EP release, which will be available on August 7, 2026. From The Outside, a collection of five Rufio-produced songs, was written primarily by Sellers, guitarist and vocalist Clark Domae, and bassist and vocalist Taylor Albaugh. According to the band, the EP reflects years of growth and explores themes of family, loss, anxiety, reconciliation, and resilience, paired with a level of honesty and maturity that could only come from first-hand experiences.

"This EP was something fun to do with the dudes," Sellers explained. "We just wanted to make something that we are proud of and had fun doing. I'm at a weird point where I don't really care what anyone else thinks right now. For me it was all about making something with the guys. We are old as hell now, so it's not often we get to hang. So just being a bit more involved in each other's lives felt really f-----g good for me."

From The Outside follows a re-recording of the band's fan-favorite hit, "Dipshit," released earlier this year to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the pop punk musicians' debut album Perhaps, I Suppose....

Rufio have been a staple part of the pop-punk scene for over 25 years. In addition to four full-length records and the upcoming EP, the band featured on the first edition of the iconic Pop Goes Punk compilation albums with a cover ofMadonna's "Like a Prayer."

Richards reminisced about McCartney and John Lennon lending their backing vocals to the Stones way back in the '60s before expressing to Lowe, of McCartney, "It's great to have somebody from your own era, from way back when. He's a lovely player and I'd like to do more with him."

Anne Hathaway has a co-star she can't stop gushing about, and it's making her think about her own kids.

The pregnant actress, 43, opened up about her onscreen bond with Tom Holland during a joint interview with CTV's e-talk, where the pair discussed their roles in Christopher Nolan's upcoming epic, 'The Odyssey.' In the film, Hathaway plays Penelope, mother to Holland's character, Telemachus.

When asked how she channeled her "mother energy" for the role, Hathaway didn't hesitate.

"I have to say as a mom in real life, I very much hope all of my children grow up to be as wonderful as my onscreen child," she said, turning to Holland, who nearly spit out his drink laughing. "Tom is like a dream son."

She didn't stop there, adding that her admiration extends to the whole cast. Hathaway said she also "loves" co-star Matt Damon, who plays King Odysseus, and credited director Christopher Nolan with creating a set built on mutual respect.

"I just feel like even though this was this big, epic movie, it was really grounded in intimate appreciation of each other," she said.

The comment quickly made the rounds online, with fans across social media praising Holland's reputation as one of Hollywood's more grounded, well-liked young stars.

Hathaway announced in June that she and husband Adam Shulman are expecting their third child. The couple are already parents to sons Jonathan, 10, and Jack, 6.

Despite her praise for Holland, Hathaway has previously said she wouldn't push her own kids toward acting at a young age. In a 2022 interview with WSJ Magazine, she said she'd encourage her children to "study," "go to classes" and wait until adulthood before pursuing a career in the industry.

'The Odyssey' marks Hathaway's third collaboration with Nolan, following 'Interstellar' and 'The Dark Knight Rises.' The star-studded epic, which also features Zendaya, Robert Pattinson and Charlize Theron, hits theaters July 17.

Three stars from Happy Days reunited in Tennessee— more than 50 years after their hit show made its debut on ABC.

On July 10, Anson Williams, Don Most, and Henry Winkler appeared at Fanboy Expo in Knoxville, Tennessee. The trio posed for photos and met with fans at the pop culture expo, which is being held at the Knoxville Convention Center through July 12.

In a post to Instagram, Williams shared a photo of himself posing with Most in the hallway to the convention center. The longtime co-stars and friends both smiled as they each gave a thumbs up, the hand gesture that Winkler’s character, Arthur “Fonzie” Fonzarelli, was known for on the ‘70s sitcom.

“My Bro Don & I at Fan Boy in Knoxville Tennessee! We still got it!”  Williams captioned the post.

Williams played Potsie Weber on Happy Days from 1974 to 1984, while Most played Ralph Malph on the series. Ralph Malph’s catchphrase on the show was “I still got it,”  which was a phrase Most picked up from producer Jerry Paris and made his own.

“It was my idea to say that line in an episode, but I actually stole/borrowed it from our director, Jerry Paris, who used to say that all the time after he would successfully get us to laugh at one of his jokes,” Most once said in an interview published by The Huffington Post. “I just decided to put it in without telling anyone I was going to do it, and everyone loved it. So then the writers started interjecting it more and more."

Five decades later, it’s clear the Happy Days men still got it. Williams and Most regularly meet up at fans' events,  while Winkler appears with them sporadically.

In 2025, the trio publicly reunited onstage with original castmate Ron Howard (Richie Cunningham on Happy Days) for the first time in 50 years. The reunion took place at Steel Con in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

"It feels like 50 minutes," Howard told fans of the 50-year reunion wait, per Fox News. "It does. We're having so much fun hanging, and this is sort of our great excuse to come together, so thank you."

In addition to the Happy Days cast members, the lineup at Knoxville Fanboy Expo includes stars from  Designing Women, Charlie's Angels, Dr, Quinn Medicine Woman, and more.

He's been Captain Ahab, Gurney Halleck, and Professor X. But to millions, Patrick Stewart is best known as Star Trek: The Next Generation's Jean-Luc Picard. The captain turns 86 on July 13, and in a new interview, he makes clear he isn't ready to leave Star Trek in the past as it celebrates its 60th year.

Stewart first took command of the USS Enterprise in ST:TNG's 1987 premiere, a role that ran seven seasons and turned him into one of science fiction's most recognizable faces. He returned to the character decades later for Star Trek: Picard, the streaming series that closed out the story with a final season built around a reunion of the original Next Generation cast.

Speaking with TV Insider, Stewart reflects on what nearly four decades of returning to Picard has meant to him, and says he'd welcome more spinoffs growing out of the world he helped build. He doesn't rule out further contributions from the character himself. It's not as much of a plan as it is an open invitation to the writers and producers still shaping Star Trek's next chapter.

Star Trek's 60th anniversary has already brought a wave of new projects, tie-in releases and cast reunions across the franchise, and Stewart's comments come at a moment when the show is actively figuring out what comes next. For an actor whose name has been tied to the franchise since the late 1980s, and then brought the character back decades later, it's an encouraging sign that we may yet see more from Picard.

Stewart also addresses his own pace of work. The comments follow online speculation that his upcoming role in Avengers: Doomsday might be his last screen appearance, a rumor Stewart wanted to put to rest directly. Collider recently ranked the “10 Greatest Mystery Books of All Time,” with two classics securing the top spots. They were And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie and The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes by Arthur Conan Doyle. However, number three on the list is a book that is lesser known. It’s called The Big Sleep by Raymond Chandler, which was released in 1939.

The Big Sleep is a hardboiled crime novel that was named one of the best 100 novels by Time magazine and came in second on the Crime Writers Association poll of the 100 best crime novels. The story has been adapted for film twice. The first time was in 1946, starring Humphrey Bogart. The second was in 1978 and contains more explicit material than what was allowed to be included in the original version.

The book, which is only 231 pages, is about a dying millionaire who “hires Philip Marlowe to handle the blackmailer of one of his two troublesome daughters.” It has a 3.94-star rating on Goodreads, with one reviewer stating, “The book itself holds up remarkably well even though it's been 70 years.”

When discussing what makes a good thriller in an interview transcribed by Crime Reads, the author said, “There has to be an element of mystery. In fact, there has to be a mysterious situation. The detective doesn’t know what it’s all about. He knows that there’s something strange about it, but he doesn’t know just what it’s all about. It seems to me that the real mystery is not who killed Sir John in his study, but what the situation really was, what the people were after, what sort of people they were.”

Chandler published seven novels throughout his career as well as several collections of short stories. They include Farewell, My Lovely, The High Window, and The Lady in the Lake. Chandler died of bronchial pneumonia in 1959 at the age of 70, only a few years after his wife died.

In a rare BBC interview, he stated, “How long did it take me [to become a successful writer]? You starve to death for ten years before your publisher knows you’re any good.”

And, while fans had only been watching two days of episodes up to that point, the houseguests had already been on their fourth day out of this 87-day marathon of a game. Suffice it to say, there was a lot of catching up to do. And one of the biggest takeaways is the relationship between contestants Lyric Medeiros and Rome Seymour, which has already seemingly developed into a full-fledged showmance.

Who is in the first Big Brother 28 showmance?

Seemingly, it's Lyric and Rome! When the live feeds went up on July 10, fans got to see the two of them chatting very intimately and privately. During their conversation, Rome had said Haley Thogmartin was flirting with him, but he declined her advances. As the chat went along, looking at their body language, it was clear there was some tension in the air. We even got a peek at a peck, as Rome kissed Lyric on the cheek at one point before heading off into the kitchen to join the rest of the house.

But the true kicker came later in the night (or very early in the morning for those of us on the East Coast). The feeds caught the two of them together in one of the twin-size bunk beds, continuing their intense discussion. There was even talk about whether or not the two of them would be able to make their newfound relationship work outside of the house (considering he's in Florida and she's in Hawaii, it would be the longest of long-distance). And we even bore witness to them kissing, a shocking prospect considering that even some of the most successful showmances in Big Brother history did not move that fast that soon.

Lyric Medeiros is a 25-year-old living in Honolulu, Hawaii. Her day job is an attorney working in eviction law, a career she accelerated to a supernatural pace, becoming the younget person in Hawaii to pass the bar. At night, however, she's a performer at a luau, showcasing her vocal chops. Her singing talent runs in the family, as her father is Glenn Medeiros, who made it big in the '80s and '90s, most prominently with his chart-topping cover of "Nothing's Gonna Change My Love for You." Lyric brought her vocal talents to American Idol in 2023, where she was eliminated in the Hollywood rounds.

Rome Seymour is a 28-year-old from Traverse City, Michigan, currently living in Delray Beach, Florida. Rome was a standout tennis player in his youth, at one point one of the best in northern Michigan. He attempted to go pro before ultimately pivoting to pickleball, which he currently coaches professionally.

What did the Big Brother 28 cast say preseason about showmances?

Considering how core showmances are to the lifeblood of Big Brother (the show will continually boast that it has more successful marriages than The Bachelor), it's understandable that the single houseguests were asked before the season if they would be interested in coupling up while in the house. And that includes Lyric and Rome proper.

"I'm absolutely open to a showmance, but if it doesn't affect my game," Lyric says in her interview. "Because I know watching Big Brother, if you're in a showmance, sometimes it can mean a huge target. So if this gorgeous man is not going to ruin my game, we can work something out!"

Rome was similarly surefire in his response, saying, "I am open to a showmance. I've been single for a long time now, and it's hard finding love in the real world. So why not do it in the house?"

How are fans reacting to Rome and Lyric on the live feeds?

Again, considering live feed watchers had to catch up on four days of action, there were a lot of blanks that needed to be filled in upon seeing Rome and Lyric canoodling. When did they start showing interest in one another (interestingly, we saw Ashley Trail, rather than Lyric, thirsting after Rome in the premiere episode)? Did we witness the first time they had kissed? Have other houseguests been taking notice of them growing closer?

At the moment, however, the fan reaction to Lyric and Rome (or "Lyme," as some fans have dubbed them) has been one of shock and snark. Again, it cannot be said enough. These people have been in the house for four days. Even devout couples like Rachel Reilly and Brendon Villegas or Jeff Schroeder and Jordan Lloyd, who fell head over heels for each other while competing against one another, had at least a week of slow-playing flirtation before moving into swapping spit. The consensus among fans is that things are moving between the two at a supernatural and historic pace.

And, of course, that invites plenty of comparisons to Love Island (heck, I even fell victim to that myself in the intro to this article). Plenty of posts across social media have poked fun at the couple, asking when they were going to announce they're "closed off." Who knows, if Big Brother producers are inspired enough, maybe the two will win a Luxury Competition and get a chance to visit the new "BB Hideaway"!

Who is most at risk in the first Big Brother 28 eviction?

Luckily for Lyric and Rome, at the moment, neither one seems in danger of becoming the first person evicted from Big Brother 28. Head of Household Dee Valladares did not put either one of them up in her first set of nominations. And even if one of them were to wind up on the block by eviction night, the Survivor winner has made it clear that her number one target this week is Mallory Aurichio (who is a close ally of Lyric's). So it looks like "Lyme" is set to continue and deepen their relationship for at least another week!

It delivers a punchy flavor that tastes like a "regular" balsamic vinaigrette. I wouldn't be able to tell in a blind taste test that it was light. This dressing offers a nice mix of herbal flavors, too. Just shake it really well before using. 

4. Best Greek: Caesar Cardini's Light Greek Vinaigrette, $4.39

Caesar Cardini's Light Greek Vinaigrette is a powerhouse dressing with a lot to offer. It has the perfect consistency—it's not too watery or thick—and the herby flavor is noticeable. The small chunks of feta inside are a nice touch, too. While this dressing is 50 calories per serving, it doesn't taste light at all.

3. Best Flavor: Newman's Own Sesame Ginger, $4.29

The Newman's Own Sesame Ginger isn't advertised as a low-calorie dressing, but it's just a mere 35 calories per serving, making it one of the lightest dressings on our list. The taste is delicious, with a strong and fresh sesame ginger flavor that works well on salads and as a marinade. It's flavorful without being overpowering, making it a great companion to vegetables.

This dressing is just 30 calories per serving, delivering that tasty, herbal and vinegary mix of flavors Olive Garden fans know and love. The consistency is thick, but not overly thick, too.

I had to double-check the label of Ken's Steak House Lite Chunky Blue Cheese to make sure it actually was a light dressing. At 80 calories per serving, this isn't the lowest-calorie option you'll find—but it may be the most delicious. It's thick and creamy, with blue cheese chunks that make this really shine. It's also almost half the calories of the regular version. It's so good.

4 Low-Calorie Salad Dressings To Skip

Taste is an individual thing, but some low-calorie salad dressings clearly taste like "diet" food. I'd skip these.

1. Hidden Valley Ranch Light, $3.97

To be fair, Hidden Valley Ranch has a very unique flavor. But Hidden Valley Ranch Light, which is 60 calories per serving, comes nowhere near it. While the consistency and appearance are the same as standard Hidden Valley Ranch, the overall flavor is just off.

If you're not a regular Hidden Valley Ranch eater, you may not notice the difference. But if you're a diehard, you may want to think hard about whether the 40% fewer calories are actually worth it.

2. Skinnygirl Honey Dijon, $2.69

At 10 calories per serving, Skinnygirl Honey Dijon is the lightest option on our list. But that comes with a big sacrifice on flavor. This dressing looks like honey dijon, but doesn't taste like it. There's also a very strong artificial sweetener flavor that's hard to shake. It's not terrible, but it's not great, either.

3. Kraft Raspberry Lite Vinaigrette, $3.49

Some people like Kraft Raspberry Lite Vinaigrette, but it's not for everyone. This dressing has 30 calories per serving and a ton of sweetness. (Sugar is the second ingredient, right after water.) It's also a little watery. If you like the taste of raspberries and want to make your salad taste really sweet, you may like this. But it may be a hard sell for most.

4. Briannas Sugar Free Blush Wine Vinaigrette, $3.32

Briannas Sugar Free Blush Wine Vinaigrette has 60 calories per serving, but it's hard to tell what it's trying to be. The flavor is really, really light and subtle. It's a little sweet and vinegary, but it doesn't have much more of a taste than that. I'd consider this a step above olive oil, but just barely. It gets lost in salads with any built-in or bold flavors.

Twin Temple just got kicked off tour but rock royalty is coming to their rescue. Jack White publicly invited retro doo-wop duo Twin Temple to open one of his upcoming concerts after the group revealed they had been dropped from two scheduled shows with country singer Charley Crockett.

Twin Temple (married musicians Alexandra and Zachary James) is known for blending vintage '60s-inspired doo-wop with theatrical Satanic themes. Their tongue-in-cheek catalog includes songs such as "Lucifer, My Love," "Let's Have a Satanic Orgy," and "Burn Your Bible," making their aesthetic hard to miss.

Earlier this week, the duo announced on their Instagram that they had been removed from two of Crockett's tour dates because of their imagery. "We are sorry to everyone who was planning to see us," the band wrote in part. "We're grateful for your support not only of Twin Temple, but more importantly of artistic freedom." White quickly came to their defense.

In an Instagram post, Jack White extended an invitation for Twin Temple to open his Sept. 29 show at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles and name-dropped a White Stripes album. "Twin Temple, would you like to open my show in L.A. on September 29th at the Hollywood Palladium?" White wrote. "Let me know. Get in front of me Satan!"

Crockett later addressed the decision in a statement to Rolling Stone, explaining that he initially misunderstood the band's style. "I thought they were like Black Sabbath, but they ain't," he told the outlet, before adding, "Not today, Satan." 

Twin Temple enthusiastically accepted the Grammy winner's offer. In a reply shared on Instagram, the duo thanked the musician and revealed they had already planned to attend the concert as fans. "Sir Jack, you have no idea what this means to us," they wrote, adding that it would be "a most infernal pleasure" to perform with him.

This last-minute collaboration means Twin Temple's fall tour plans are back on track and they'll now be taking the stage with one of rock's biggest names instead. So, not today Satan but there’s always tomorrow.

A popular protein powder sold at Costco is facing serious allegations after a new lawsuit claimed it contains dangerous levels of heavy metals, including lead.

A class action lawsuit filed on Tuesday, July 7, in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington alleges that Orgain Organic Protein Powder, sold at Costco, contains dangerous levels of heavy metals, including lead and cadmium.

According to court documents obtained by People, a group of seven plaintiffs claims Costco violated the Washington Consumer Protection Act by marketing the protein powder as being made with "quality ingredients and higher standards" and providing "good clean fuel," alleging those claims are "not true" and "misleading" to consumers.

The lawsuit also argues that, "Heavy metals are known to pose significant and adverse health risks and consequences to humans," adding, "It is well-recognized that there are no safe levels of human exposure to any of the heavy metals, including cadmium and lead."

The outlet notes that Orgain has denied the allegations at this time. The plaintiffs are seeking a jury trial, along with damages and restitution, though the amount has yet to be determined.

What flavors of protein powder are affected

The products specifically named in the lawsuit include Orgain Organic Protein Powder in both the Vanilla Bean and Creamy Chocolate Fudge flavors. 

Costco continues to expand

The lawsuit comes as Costco continues a major expansion across the U.S. The retailer recently opened new warehouses in Syracuse, Utah, and Pensacola, Florida, with seven more locations expected to open in August, including stores in New York, Texas, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Georgia, and Missouri. According to USA Today, Costco plans to open approximately 26 warehouses during its 2026 fiscal year, with even more planned in the years ahead.

For now, the allegations remain unproven, and the case will move through the court system before any final determination is made.

“Get on Your Feet” was released by Gloria Estefan in 1989. The song peaked at No. 11 on the Billboard Hot 100, and it's still a hit today. It's commonly played at weddings and parties to encourage guests to get onto the dance floor.

John DeFaria, who wrote the song, explained how it came about. “I wrote it on the bus in between gigs with Gloria and the band. The verse actually was the chorus in the early version. I knew she wanted an uptempo song.” He added, “I wanted something positive and a great tune to play live.”

This isn’t the only dance song that Estefan has released. She was also the voice behind "Rhythm Is Gonna Get You” and “Conga,” which are also party hits. Commonly called the “Queen of Latin Pop,” she has had 38 number-one hits across different Billboard charts and won over 20 Grammy Awards.

When speaking about her music with The Scotsman, she said, “I sing about issues that unite us all, like gaining love, losing love. And then there’s rhythm. Rhythm does not need to be understood. It either moves you or it doesn’t. Drums were the original communication, and I think percussion transcends barriers. Also, we could speak English, which in music stretches across many different countries, as well as Spanish, and I think that’s why we were a success."

“Get on Your Feet” inspired the name of the musical about Gloria and her husband, Emilio Estefan, called On Your Feet! When the singer was asked how many times she has seen the show, she told Wbur, “You know what, I was talking to someone today saying, ‘I wish I would have counted,’ because it's been a ridiculous number. But the good news is it never gets old, and it’s not because it’s us, cause I really don’t sit there going 'oh my God, that’s me on stage,' it’s not that way at all.”

She continued, “When I look at the stage, I don’t think of it as me. We look at it as a production that we tried to create a wonderful journey and a kind of roller coaster ride for the audience, and we were really trying to get the best possible show together, so when I sit there, I look at the audience, I look at their reactions, I notice the nuances that the actors threw in every time that change up the show. They never do two exact shows. That’s the beauty of live theater. It changes. The evolution of it has been incredible, and it’s very exciting to watch.”
