Virginia J. Miller, 88, of Bourbon, MO, passed away on Sunday, January 14, 2018 at Meramec Nursing Center in Sullivan.

Virginia Jeanette was born on December 6, 1929 to Edward C. and Amelia (Somerfield) Herman in Kirkwood, MO. She grew up and graduated from St. Peter’s Catholic School in Kirkwood, MO. Virginia was united in marriage to Jean A. Miller on September 6, 1952, following his return from service in the Korean War. Four children were born to their union: John, Joe, Kathryn and Christine. The Miller family resided in Kirkwood until June of 1969, when they settled into Bourbon, MO.

Jean preceded Virginia in death on September 30, 2000. Virginia enjoyed being a housewife and attending ceramic classes. She was a bit of an artist; she could draw pictures with intricate detail, she embroidered flowers that were so rich in texture, created intricate ceramic roses and detailed stained-glass lamps. Virginia will be missed by her family and friends.

Virginia is survived by four children, John Miller of Bourbon, MO; Joe Miller (fiancé, Pat) of Bourbon, MO; Kathryn “Kay” Ryerson of Bourbon, MO; and Christine (Mike) Miller of Rolla, MO; eight grandchildren, Kathy Ryerson of Bourbon, MO; Raymond (Mandy) Ryerson of Bourbon, MO; Rita Ryerson of Arnold, MO; Molly (Timothy) Kelley of Springfield, MO; Benjamin Miller of Rolla, MO; John Miller of Maryville, IL; James (Sara) Miller of Union, MO; and Rebecca (Joshua) Teague of Sophia, NC; seven great-grandchildren and one on the way; one sister, Edna (Peter) Gaffney of Kansas City, MO; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Jean Miller; her parents, Edward C. & Amelia (Somerfield) Herman; and a brother, Edward Herman.

Visitation was held from 4-8 p.m., Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan.

Funeral Services were conducted 10 a.m., Thursday, January 18, 2018 at Bourbon First Assembly of God, with Pastor Derik Ruble and Pastor Harrison Brown officiating. Interment followed at Anthonies Mill Cemetery in Bourbon.

All arrangements were under the care of Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan and Bourbon, MO.
