Virginia ‘Kate’ M. Edgar
Virginia “Kate” Marion Edgar, 84, of Festus, MO, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, May 23, 2017.
Kate was born on June 14, 1932 in Clinton, KY to Samuel and Lucille Peebles, previously of Stanton, MO. Her family moved from Kentucky to Saint Louis, MO in 1940 where she grew up and attended grade school. In 1947, her family moved to the small town of Stanton, MO, where she graduated from high school and met Harford Marion Edgar. They were united in married at the First Baptist Church in Stanton, MO. Fifteen years later, Kate and her husband moved to Sullivan, MO with their four children.
She is survived by three daughters, Katherine Laboray (Edgar) and husband Fred of Festus MO, Rita Rock (Edgar) and husband Ken of Charlotte, NC and Lisa Edgar, of Kansas City, MO. Kate had one son Hartford (Sonny) Marion Edgar (predeceased) and wife Anita of Waldron, AR. Three brothers, Samuel Peebles, George Peebles (predeceased) and his wife Lorraine Peebles of Stanton, MO, Larry Peebles and wife Janet Peebles (predeceased) of Stanton, MO. As well as, six grandchildren, Rodney Armstrong, Bradford and Corey Schleifer, Eric, Kevin, Casey Edgar and many great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, May 26, 2017 at Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan, MO with Pastor Ken Rock officiating. Burial will be at Stanton Cemetery.
Visitation will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
