Tressie Elizabeth Humphrey

Tressie Elizabeth Humphrey, nee Butt, of Highlandville, Missouri, formerly of Steelville, Missouri passed away Thursday, October 10, 2019 at the age of 101 years, 5 months and 7 days. She was born May 3, 1918 in Steelville to Henry and Zelma Slowensky Butt. On May 4, 1937, Tressie was united in marriage to Luther T. Humphrey and to this union two daughters were born.

Tressie graduated from Steelville High School, earned her teaching certificate and taught one year at Slowensky School. She then went to work at Scott’s Steelville Supply in 1943 and retired from there in 1983. Tressie was a 50 year member of the local Order of the Eastern Star. She spent many hours gardening, working on her farm and taking care of her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Luther Humphrey; one daughter, Loretta Mae Weber; infant brother, Joseph Henry Butt; a half-brother, Chester Jewell Butt who died in France in the Battle of Argonne, November 1918; and a half-sister, Mabel Butt.

She will be sadly missed by her daughter, Selma “Jean” Humphrey Dulany and husband Ray of Highlandville, MO; eight grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; twenty great-great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

The Family received friends from 11 a.m. until service time on Saturday, October 12, 2019 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, MO.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 12, 2019 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, MO with Rev. Jerry Beers officiating.

Committal prayer and interment was held in the Keysville Cemetery.

The Family was served by the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home of Steelville, MO.
