Sylvia A. Nissen

Sylvia A. Nissen, age 54, of Sullivan, MO, passed away Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at her home.

Sylvia Anne Payne was born on April 23, 1964 in New Orleans, LA, to Robert Paul and Vera Lucille (Hill) Payne. She was united in marriage to Rodney Nissen on February 22, 1997 in St. Clair, MO. Sylvia was employed in housekeeping at Meramec Caverns and as a security guard. But, most recently, she stayed home to care for her husband. Sylvia was a very down to earth person who enjoyed helping others. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren, and enjoyed spending her time and money on them. She also enjoyed baking cookies and reading. Sylvia will be missed by her family and many friends. 

Sylvia is survived by her husband, Rodney Nissen of Sullivan, MO; her mother,  Lucille Payne of Sullivan, MO; three children, Jacob Hutchison and wife, Carol, of Bourbon, MO, James Hutchison and wife, Molly, of Washington D.C., and Rebecca Olyed of Bourbon, MO; stepson, Josh Hutchison of Sullivan, MO; 12 grandchildren; one brother, Robert Payne, Jr. of Sullivan, MO; four sisters, Lorie Masinelli of Sullivan, Mo, Melissa Payne and husband, Rodney, of Washington, MO, Mary Payne of St. Louis, MO, and Amy Payne of Washington, MO; one half-sister, Patricia Lynch of West Plaines, MO; nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends. 

She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Payne; and one sister, Lisa Busse. 

Funeral services were conducted 12 p.m., Monday, February 25, 2019 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan, with Pastor Matt Dudley as the officiant. Interment followed in Bourbon Cemetery. 

Visitation was held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., on Monday, at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan.
