Shirley J. Whitford
Shirley J. Whitford, 76, of Sullivan, passed away Friday, November 17, 2017 at Meramec Nursing Center.
Shirley Jean Sullivan was born on September 30, 1941 to James Luther and Bertha Florence (Cooksey) Sullivan in Caldwell County, KY. She was raised and attended school in Kentucky. On November 15, 1957, Shirley was united in marriage to Willis Ronald Whitford. Together, they celebrated 49 years of marriage. Willis and Shirley moved from Kentucky to New Mexico and finally to Sullivan, where they made their home and raised their family. Shirley was employed by Walmart as a Department Manager until her retirement. She was active in the Missouri Baptist Hospital Ladies Auxiliary and the Red Hat Ladies. Shirley was member of Word of Life in Sullivan, she enjoyed traveling, sewing and spending time with her grandchildren, whom she adored. Shirley had a great sense of humor, a wonderful smile and was a great prayer warrior.
Shirley is survived by her children, Ronald Whitford and wife Peggy of Ottawa, KS; Timothy Whitford of Lonedell, MO; and Jeffery Whitford of Sullivan, MO; special daughter-in-law and caregiver, Madonna Whitford of Sullivan, MO; nine grandchildren, Aaron, Daniel, T.J., Robbie, Tony, Donneta, Nathan, Cody and Mikayla Whitford; 14 great-grandchildren; one brother, James Sullivan and wife Vickie of AZ; nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Willis Whitford; her parents, James and Bertha (Cooksey) Sullivan; and two sisters, Faye Aschbacher and Sharon Weathers.
Visitation was held from 5-8 p.m., Tuesday and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Wednesday, at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan.
Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m., Wednesday, at the Eaton Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Reedville Cemetery.
