Ruth L. Hulsey
Ruth L. Hulsey, 89, of Sullivan, Missouri passed away on Saturday, December 30, 2017.
Ruth was born on December 25, 1928 to the late Harold Lawrence and Alta Inez (Pinnell) Lewis in Leasburg, Missouri. At a young age, Ruth was saved and baptized at the First Baptist Church of Leasburg. She was united in marriage to Roscoe Hulsey on July 19, 1947 in Bourbon, Missouri. Ruth worked alongside her husband in the family construction business as a bookkeeper. She was a dedicated Christian and longtime member of First Missionary Baptist Church in Bourbon where she taught Sunday school, was a Deacons wife, member of WMA, taught VBS and was a prayer warrior. Ruth cherished her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and was especially close to her sister, Ellen Scantlan. Ruth was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She loved birdwatching and collecting sea shells. Ruth will be missed dearly by her family and friends.
Ruth is survived by her grandchildren, Laurie Tucker of Sullivan, MO; Jeremy Tucker and wife Ashley of Sullivan, MO; and Joseph Hulsey of Sullivan, MO; four great-grandchildren: Jayden Tucker, Kaleb Tucker, Blake Tucker and Grace Hulsey; one sister, Ellen Scantlan of Sullivan, MO; nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Roscoe Hulsey; one daughter and son-in-law, Kathy Tucker and husband, Glen; one son, Kenneth Hulsey; her granddaughter, Sonya Tucker; her parents, Harold and Alta (Pinnell) Lewis and one brother-in-law, Clyde Scantlan.
Funeral Services were conducted at 11 a.m., on Friday, January 5, 2018 at the First Baptist Church in Bourbon with Pastor Roy Fikac and Mr. Mike King officiating. Interment followed in I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Sullivan.
Visitation was held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., on Thursday, at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan and from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., on Friday, at First Baptist Church in Bourbon.
