Roger Elmer Tyree

Roger Elmer Tyree was born on September 30, 1935 to Elmer Edmund and Arlie Colisity Murphy Tyree, on what was known as the Ralston Farm, just outside of Bourbon, MO.  He departed this life on May 27, 2018, at the age of 82, and died peacefully at his home in Leasburg, MO, with his daughter by his side.

Roger was born into a farm family, the youngest of four children, and soon developed a love for cattle farming, which he enjoyed most of his adult life.  He graduated from Bourbon High School, class of 1953.  He served his country as an Army helicopter mechanic from 1954 to 1957, while stationed overseas in Japan.

When he returned home, he was united in marriage to Carrie Beth Strauser, and to this union, one daughter was born, Teresa Ann Tyree.  Later in life, he was united in marriage to Charlene R. Dunne, and to this union, one son was born, Roger Wayne Tyree.  

In addition to farming, Roger made his career as an assembly line worker for Ford Motor Company, working for 32 years at the assembly plant in Hazelwood, MO.  During this time, he earned the respect of many friends and coworkers for being a dependable employee and having an outstanding work ethic.

Roger was baptized into the Christian faith and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Bourbon.

Roger is survived by a special friend and confidant, Gloria Rector, of Argo, MO; one daughter, Teresa Ann Cusick, of St. Clair, MO; one son, Roger Wayne Tyree and wife, Rachel, of Sullivan, MO; one step-daughter, Jill Klopp and husband Brian, of Ozark, MO; one step-son, Derek Lewis and wife Ashley, of Robertsville, MO; 9 grandchildren, Brandon, Rachel, and Joshua Cusick, all of St. Clair,  MO; Michael Wayne Tyree of Sullivan, MO; Addy Klopp of Ozark, MO; Riley, Brayden, Paisley, and Ruger Lewis of Robertville, MO; two sisters, Shirley R. Williams, of Williamsburg, VA and Sheila F. Wood and husband, William, of Rolla, MO, many other nephews, nieces, relatives, and friends.  Roger was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Bernadine Rosier, of Sherwood, OR; and one niece, Debbie A. Rosier Labayer, of Sherwood, OR.

Per Roger’s wishes, private graveside services will be held, and interment will be in the Bacon Cemetery in Argo, MO.  Memorials may be given to the First United Methodist Church of Bourbon, 610 Olive St., Bourbon, MO  65441 or the American Cancer Society in the name of Roger E. Tyree.
