Rita Boero, age 78, of Bourbon, MO, passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan, MO.

Rita Elizabeth was born on January 17, 1941 in St. James, MO, to the late Paul and Rose (Tessaro) Goevert. She passed away at the age of 78 on May 14, 2019. Rita spent her early years growing up in Rosati, MO. The family then moved to Thayer, MO, where Rita attended grade school and graduated from high school in 1958. Rita continued her education at St. Louis University, earning a degree in education. After starting a family, she furthered her education, earning a Master’s Degree in Education. Rita started her teaching career at Ursuline Academy. She also taught one year at St. Dominic Savio and Our Lady of Providence. Then, Rita and her family moved to Sullivan, where she taught for one year. From there, Rita chose to make her home in the Bourbon School District, where she taught for 31 years in various grades, ending her last 18 years teaching high school history and government. Rita continued working at Bourbon schools as a substitute teacher until she was 72 years old.

Rita was united in marriage to Edward Boero on August 10, 1963 in St. Louis, MO. To this union they were blessed with four children: Tony, Tami, Traci, and Terri. Rita was known to many as a hard worker who didn’t know what the word “no” meant when anyone asked her for help. She spent numerous years sponsoring Senior classes, taking hundreds of students to Daytona Beach and a few other destinations. Rita could also be seen sponsoring the Junior classes, where she would transform the middle school gym into a different paradise centered around various themes. She sponsored the Beta Club and Scholar Bowl. Other events Rita could be seen leading included Senior Carnivals, May Days, Homecomings, and running concessions stands. One of her fondest memories was sitting in her living room with a house full of senior students writing the Wills and Prophecies for Proms. Outside of school Rita spent many hours volunteering for the Bourbon Booster’s Senior Christmas dinners and the Lions Club Easter Egg Hunts.  For many years, Rita ventured into the catering business. Years of love were poured into running the kitchen at the St. Francis Catholic Church annual picnics. Rita loved her books and could be found reading in her spare time. She also enjoyed painting ceramics, making numerous other crafts, word searches and playing solitaire.  Rita was extremely proud of her 9 grandchildren, but she loved showing off her 7 great-grandchildren even more. She could always be seen supporting each and everyone in their multiple activities.

Rita is survived by her four children, Tony Boero and wife, Cathy, of Bourbon, Tami Bobbitt and husband, Randy, of Bourbon, Traci Courtouise and husband, Doug, of Bourbon, and Terri Rowden and husband, Chuck, of Leasburg; 9 grandchildren:  Tori Brock and husband, Michael, Ryan Bobbitt and wife, Katie, Tara Doyle and husband, Jason, Tori Bobbitt and significant other, Keenan, Anthony Rowden and wife, Kayla, Drew Courtouise, Mackenzie Courtouise, Maria Boero, and Bam Rowden; 7 great-grandchildren, Katie, Rilynn, Evelyn, Baylor, Kian, Kade, and Kinsley; one brother, Paul Goevert and wife, Shelly, of Ballwin; 2 nieces, Vicki (Rob) Sewell and Angie (Richard) Black; 2 nephews, Gordon (Jaime) Goevert and Sam Goevert; other relatives and friends.
