Rev. George Calvin Fowler

Rev. George "Calvin" Fowler, 91, of Bourbon, passed away peacefully at his home, Saturday, September 9, 2017 surrounded by his family.

Reverend Fowler was born on September 6, 1926 to the late George and Ellen (Simmons) Fowler in Stanton, MO. He was the youngest of four children. On April 5, 1953, Rev. George Calvin Fowler was united in marriage to Norma Garrison at the Bourbon First Assembly of God Church. Reverend Fowler was an ordained minister with the Assembly of God denomination for sixty-one years. He was a Pastor for nearly fifty years, pastoring in several locations in Missouri, Iowa and Illinois.

Reverend Fowler was a humble, caring, hard-working man of God. He ministered to and touched the lives of hundreds of people throughout his long life. He was known for his jolly personality, his wonderful sense of humor and infectious laugh. He taught through his example to give the needs of others priority over all else. His ministry was marked by self-sacrifice for the care of people.

Reverend Fowler was respected, loved and revered by his immediate and extended family, friends and many others whose lives he influenced. May he rest in peace in the mighty arms of our Savior Jesus.

Reverend Fowler is survived by his loving wife of sixty-four years, Norma; two children: Deborah Missey and her husband Keith of Leasburg, MO and Michael Fowler and his wife Laurel of Arvada, CO; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great child; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters: Helen Ruble, Corrine Ruble and June King.

Funeral Services were conducted 10 a.m., Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at the First Assembly of God in Bourbon, MO. Burial will be at Stanton Cemetery, Stanton, MO.

Visitation was held from 5-8 p.m., Monday, September 11, 2017 at First Assembly of God, Bourbon, MO.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Youth and Children Ministry Fund at First Assembly of God of Bourbon.
