R. Fern Stroup, 72, of Bourbon, MO, passed away at her home on Monday, February 3, 2020

Fern was born on May 30, 1947 in Potosi, MO, the daughter of James Benjamin and Anna Jewell (Anderson) Duncan. She was united in marriage to the love of her life, William “Buddy” Stroup, on June 23, 1984. Fern was employed by Meramec Industries for many years and then she worked for Meramec Nursing Center a short time, before retiring so she could care for her husband, Buddy. Fern enjoyed watching television. Her favorite shows included NCIS, Law and Order and American Idol. She loved MO Town, cutting a rug in the kitchen with her grandson, having heart to heart talks with one granddaughter and watching love comes softly movies with her other granddaughter. She completely loved her entire family. Fern was of the Church of God faith. She will be missed by her daughter and family.  

Fern is survived by her daughter, Lisa Skaggs and husband Brian of Bourbon, MO; three grandchildren:  Bryan Cole Skaggs and wife Maddison of St. Clair, MO, Sammi Quisenberry and husband Justin of Sullivan, MO, and Sara Skaggs of Bourbon, MO; one brother, James Neil Duncan and wife Mary of Sullivan, MO; four sisters:  Neva Cassidy and husband Dave of Steelville, MO, Karen Weems of Sullivan, MO, Joyce Corbett and husband David of Cuba, MO, and Rhonda Hibbitts and husband Tom of Sheldon, MO; one step daughter, Christina Warren and spouse of Bourbon, MO; four step grandchildren:  Ashly and husband Sam, William, Marissa and Trey; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. 

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Bud Stroup; and her parents, James and Anna Duncan. 

Funeral services were 1 p.m., Saturday, February 8, 2020 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan, officiated by Rev. Dane Corbett. Interment followed in Buffalo Cemetery, Sullivan, MO.

Visitation was held from 4-8 p.m., Friday, February 7, 2020 and from 10 a.m.-1 p.m., Saturday, prior to the service at Eaton Funeral Home.
