Philip John Brandt, III

Philip John Brandt, III, 62, of Alexandria, LA, formerly of Sullivan, MO, passed away on Thursday, October 5, 2017 as the result of a Kayaking accident.

Philip was born on September 18, 1955 to Philip J. Brandt, Jr. and Mary Ann Vogelgesang in Corpus Christi, TX. He was raised in the Sullivan/ Bourbon, MO area and graduated from Bourbon High School in 1973. Philip did a variety of different types of work; he was employed by Chrysler, worked the oil rigs of Texas and was a truck driver. Philip shared the last several years with his long-time partner, Lisa Wise. His Harley motorcycles were his passion and he also loved the Missouri Rivers, playing the piano and the guitar. Phil will be missed dearly by his family and closest friends.

Phil is survived by his mother, Mary Ann Vogelgesang of Ellisville, MO; two sisters, Terry Thiemann and husband John of Dittmer, MO; Cheryl Sommer of Newtown, PA; his long-time partner, Lisa Wise of Alexandria, LA; three nieces, Chandra Nilges Fessler and husband Tim of Ellisville, MO; Christina Thiemann Martin and husband Gabe of Ballwin, MO; Madeliene Sommer of Newtown, PA; one nephew, Noah Sommer of Newtown, PA; two great-nephews, Matthew Fessler and Jace Martin; other relatives and many friends.

Phil was preceded in death by his father, Philip J. Brandt, Jr.

A memorial mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, October 13, 2017 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Sullivan, MO with Father Paul Telken officiating.

Memorials to the Diabetes Association are appreciated.
