Pamela Sue (Stonebrook) Nugent, age 75 of Sullivan, MO, passed away Saturday, April 25, 2020 at Meramec Nursing Center of Sullivan. She is now at home with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Pam was born March 22, 1945 at Hammond, IN, the daughter of the late Valjean and Albion Stonebrook. She was united in marriage to James Nugent, Jr. on January 2, 1981. He preceded her in death in May 2000. 

Pam was a born again Christian and received Christ as her Savior and was baptized at 1st Baptist Church of Hammond in Indiana.

Pam really loved animals and had a special place in her heart for dogs and cats. At one time, she had 5 dogs and 3 cats in her home. Most of the dogs and cats that she brought into her home had been abandoned or discarded. She could not bring herself to turn away from animals in need. Pam worked as a vet tech for several different vet clinics and she was always bringing home pets that did not have a home. She was an avid supporter of the Humane Society.

Pam received a Certification as a Nurses Aid in 1973 and worked for the Homestead Convalescent Home in Burnham, IL. She also studied at the University of North Carolina and was working toward an Associate Degree in Accounting.

After her husband’s passing in 2000, Pam moved to Sullivan, where she resided up until her passing. 

Pam is survived by her brother, Allen Stonebrook and wife, Sharon, of North Carolina; a niece, Leesa Stonebrook of Schaumburg, IL; a nephew, Jeff Stonebrook and wife, Kristie, and their son, Elliott, of Plainview, IL; her best friend of 70 years, Judy Metzger of Sullivan, MO; and other relatives and many friends.

Private services were conducted at 1 p.m., Friday, May 1, 2020 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan, MO with Pastor Lew Ensor officiating.  Family and friends are encouraged to watch the service via Facebook livestream at www.facebook.com/eatonfuneralhome beginning at 12:55 p.m.

Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery in Hammond, Indiana. 

Any memorial contributions in Pam’s memory may be made to the Humane Society of Union, MO.

All arrangements were under the care of the Eaton Funeral Home and Cremation Center of Sullivan.
