Norma Rodgers Eaker, age 82, of Sullivan, MO, passed away on Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at Life Care Center of Sullivan, surrounded by her loved ones.

Norma Mae Whitt was born on April 8, 1937 in Fitzhugh, AR, the daughter of William and Ella Mae (Voss) Whitt. She grew up and attended school in Arkansas. As a young girl, Norma moved with her family to Granite City, IL. This is where she met and later married Verlin Rodgers on April 17, 1954. To this union six children were born: Winona, Gulena, Verlin Jr., Ella, Shannon and Shane. Verlin and Norma raised their children in Granite City, before moving to Sullivan, Missouri. Norma worked as a CNA for many years, and later, was employed by Wal-Mart in Sullivan. Her husband, Verlin, passed away in 1989. 

Later, Norma was united in marriage to Dallas Eaker in 2001. Sadly, he preceded her in death as well in 2015. Norma was known to be a supreme caregiver who had a gift for hospitality. Those who knew her were blessed to know her and get to witness her spirited nature, wonderful sense of humor and just an overall generous spirit to a fault. Norma enjoyed spending time with her siblings. She also loved dancing, singing, playing dominoes and card games. She will be lovingly remembered and missed by her family and friends.

Norma is survived by four children: Winona “Noni” Werley and husband, Charlie, of Sullivan, MO, Gulena West of Sullivan, MO, Shannon Rodgers of Sullivan, MO, and Shane Rodgers of Sullivan, MO; Dallas’ children: Phillip Eaker, Paul Eaker, Cynthia Patton, Andrea Eaker, and Michael Eaker; twelve grandchildren: Neily West, Chale Werley, Nicki Burns, Shae Reed, Kyle West, Brandon Woods, Caleb Rodgers, Tyler Jackson, Kori Rodgers, Jessi Rodgers, Levi Rodgers and Lisa West; nineteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; five siblings:  Pat McGowan of Sullivan, MO, Donna Roberts of Austin, TX, Kay Cuttrell and husband, Ron, of Mansfield, OH, J.C. Whitt and wife, Donna, of Crystal River, FL, and Billy Whitt and wife, Bonnie, of Hope, AR; and numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by two husbands, Verlin Rodgers and Dallas Eakers; infant son, Verlin W. Rodgers, Jr.; a daughter, Ella Michele Eoff; two grandchildren, Corey Lee Edwards and Amy Lynn Odam; great-great-grandson, Chandler Werley; her parents, William and Ella Mae Whitt; three sisters:  Gracie Lee, Marie Elston, and Margaret Mayes; and four brothers:  Richard Whitt, Bobby Whitt, Ronnie Whitt, and Tommy Whitt. 

Funeral Services were conducted 12 Noon, Saturday, July 13, 2019 at Grace City Church in Bourbon, with Pastor Terry Mahurin as the officiant. Burial was held at Lake View Memorial Gardens in Fairview Heights, Illinois. 

Visitation was held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Saturday, at Grace City Church.
