Mike Hoevelmann, age 70, of Sullivan passed away Thursday, May 14, 2020 at Mercy Hospital in St. Louis.

Michael Edward Hoevelmann was born January 24, 1950 in Sullivan, MO, the son of Edward and Dolores (Studdard) Hoevelmann.  He grew up and attended school at Spring Bluff and eventually Sullivan High School, graduating with the class of 1968.  Mike was united in marriage to Judy Humphrey on October 11, 1969 at the First Presbyterian Church of Sullivan and to this union three sons were born:  Jason, Matthew and Josh.  He was drafted into the US Army during the Vietnam era and served our country six years before his honorable discharge.  Mike and Judy spent time in Indiana during his time in the service and then returned to Sullivan to settle down and raise their family.  He was employed with the Chrysler Corporation for most of his working life, retiring in 2005.

Mike’s extreme love for carpentry and woodworking afforded him many “handyman” projects in the community for family and friends.  Many folks locally have been blessed with some of his creations, such as wood garbage cans and “tater bins”.  He also spent several years working with Trusted Property Management.  Mike enjoyed golfing with his buddies and fishing trips to Canada. Above all, he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Mike accepted Jesus Christ into his life and was baptized December 12, 1993.  He was a devoted member of Temple Baptist Church of Sullivan.  He will be missed deeply by his family and friends.

Mike is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Judy; his three sons:  Jason Hoevelmann and his wife, Cassie, of Eureka, MO, Matthew Hoevelmann and his wife, Mandy, of Union, MO, and Josh Hoevelmann and his wife, Jody, of Murfreesboro, TN; seven grandchildren:  Jacob, Braden, Allie, Melanie, Grant, Kate, & Addison; a sister, Joanne Constanti of Rosebud, MO; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives  and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Dolores (Studdard) Hoevelmann.
