Matthew C. Stout, age 61 of Leslie, MO, passed away Sunday, April 26, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family.

Matthew Clay was born on March 5, 1959 in Washington, MO to Thomas Wilbur and Olive Ann (Thrasher) Stout. Matt attended and graduated from Sullivan High school class of 1977. After graduation, he went to work for the Carpenter’s Union and was employed there for 30 plus years, until ill health forced his retirement.

Matt was a golfer, an avid hunter, enjoyed trout fishing and loved classic cars. He owned several classic cars however the 1966 Ford Mustang was one of his favorites. Matt enjoyed watching the History Channel, Hogan’s Heroes and The Blue Book Project. He was loved by his family and many friends and will be missed by all who knew him. 

Matt is survived by four children, Samantha Stout of Ballwin, MO, Sharon Stout of Wildwood, MO, Shelby Stout of Berger, MO and Cole Stout of Sullivan, MO; one grandson, Clarkson Bitterbaum; his father, Thomas Stout Jr. of Sullivan, MO; three nephews, Shane Graeser of Smithton, MO, Garrett Graeser and wife Shelby of Quantico, VA and Derick Graeser of Memphis, TN; longtime girlfriend, Marsha; “Copper” the dog; other relatives and many friends. 

Matt was preceded in death by his mother, Olive Stout; one brother, Marc Stout; and one sister Cheryl Graeser and one brother-in-law, Gary Graeser.

It was Matt’s desire to be cremated. There will be a celebration of his life at a later date. The Stout family wishes memorial contributions be made to The St. Louis – Kansas City Carpenters Regional Council or to Sullivan High School in Matt’s memory.

All arrangements were under the care of the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan, MO.
