Mary R. Ransom
Mary R. Ransom (nee Parks), age 87, of Sullivan, MO, passed away on Thursday, June 21, 2018 at Meramec Nursing Center in Sullivan.
Mary was born in Elvins, MO on February 25, 1931, the daughter of Joe and Myrtle (Cole) Parks. She was united in marriage to John Elbert Ransom on June 9, 1949, in Esther, MO and they were blessed with two children; Joe and John. Mary and John resided in the Elvins area until 1967, when they relocated to Sullivan to be closer to his job at Pea Ridge Iron Ore Mine. Throughout the years, Mary helped John build several homes in the Sullivan area and she would always let John know if things were plumb and level. She was also a homemaker and enjoyed cooking, sewing and gardening. Her love of gardening was evident in their beautiful landscaped yard. Mary enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was also an avid Cardinal Baseball fan and was never shy about how the team was doing. She will be sadly missed by all family and friends who knew her.
Mary is survived by her husband, John Ransom of Sullivan; two sons, Joe Ransom and wife Rosemary of Sullivan and John Ransom of Manchester, MO; two grandchildren, Jessica Ransom of Sullivan and Matthew Ransom of Manchester, MO; two great grandchildren, Alexis Self and Chase Chapman; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Myrtle Parks; five brothers, Earl Parks, Irvin Parks, LaDon Parks, Leroy Parks and infant Bobby Parks; and five sisters, Beulah Casey, Eula Schneider, Velma M. Goff, Ina Bess and Betty Bible.
Funeral Services were conducted 1 p.m., Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan, with Pastor Matt Dudley as the officiant. Interment followed in I.O.O.F. Memorial Cemetery in Sullivan.
Visitation was held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at the Eaton Funeral Home.
