Mary L. Springer

Mary L. Springer, age 87, of Springfield, MO, formerly of Bourbon, MO, passed away on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at Magnolia Square Nursing Center in Springfield. 

Mary Louise Koelling was born on January 8, 1931 in Holts Summit, MO to Otto and Edith (Davis) Koelling. At age 12, Mary’s mother passed away and she went to live with her aunt, Miss Blanche Davis, who also took in her 11-year-old sister and 5-year-old brother. All three children were very loved by their Aunt Blanche. Mary was a graduate of Fulton High school. She was united in marriage to Paul Gilbert Springer on July 3, 1950 in South Dakota and they were blessed with three children, George, Jacqueline and J.C. Mary worked in the lunch room at Bourbon School while her children attended school there. In 1968, she owned and operated Bourbon Fashion Shop. Her next career move was to manage the Onondaga Cave Restaurant; however, after her grandchildren were born, she stayed home to babysit and spend time with them. Mary was active in PTA when her children were young and she enjoyed traveling, canning and gardening. Mary was a long time member of First United Methodist Church in Bourbon. 

Mary is survived by her children; George Springer of Oakville, MO, J.C. Springer and wife Deanna of Springfield, MO and Jackie Pinkston and husband Gary of Celebration, FL; five grandchildren, Jarred Pinkston and wife Martine, Justin Springer and wife Anna, Natalie Maximowicz and Cody, and Nathan Springer and wife Camille; eight great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul G. Springer; one granddaughter, Elizabeth Springer; her parents, Otto and Edith Koelling; one brother, John Koelling; one sister, Barbara Koelling; and special aunt, Blanche Davis. 

Memorial contributions may be given to First United Methodist Church of Bourbon.

Funeral Services were conducted 10:30 a.m., Saturday, July 7, 2018 at First United Methodist Church of Bourbon, with Pastor Mike Summers as the officiant. 

Visitation was held from 6:30-8 p.m., Friday, July 6, 2018 and from 9-10:30 a.m., Saturday, July 7, 2018 at First United Methodist Church of Bourbon.
