Lois K. Schollmeyer, age 101, of Sullivan, MO passed away Thursday, April 25, 2019 at Meramec Nursing Center, Sullivan.

Lois Katherine was born October 21, 1917 in Hooper, NE the daughter of Henry and Amelia (Janssen) Johanning. She grew up and attended school in Nebraska before her family moved to Missouri in 1925. The Johanning family settled in the Champion City area where they began to farm.  She was a member of Champion City United Methodist Church.  As a young woman, Lois moved to the city where she worked doing housework.  Lois met and married Ervin Schollmeyer on September 3, 1938 and to this union their son, Ronnie was born. They resided in Chesterfield, MO for many years while Ervin was employed as an engineer.  She dedicated her life as a stay at home mother to raise Ronnie, and she had a passion for growing various gardens and playing music. In 1980, following Ervin’s retirement they moved to Dutzow where they lived until 1995. They came to Sullivan to make their final home as Ervin’s health began to decline. Ervin passed away in 2000. Lois spent her last years at the Meramec Nursing Center in Sullivan where her family was appreciative of the wonderful love and care she received. 

Lois had the ability to play the piano, organ, and accordion, all by ear and loved playing for people. Over the years, she and Ervin could often be found playing music at the local nursing homes and senior centers where they lived.  They also enjoyed many trips together as well as camping and fishing. Lois also enjoyed family gatherings and playing cards with family and friends. She will be missed by her family and friends.

Lois is survived by her son, Ronald Schollmeyer of Sullivan; a brother, Vertis Johanning and his wife, Hallie of Leslie, MO; a sister, Grace Altemeyer of Kirkwood, MO; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ervin; her parents, Henry and Amelia (Janssen) Johanning; four brothers:  Wilfred, Raymond, Delmar and Harry Johanning; and two sisters, Henrietta Danz and Irma Thenhaus.

Visitation and funeral services were held on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at the Eaton Funeral Home of Sullivan, with Pastor Scott Perry officiating.  Burial at at Champion City Methodist Cemetery, Leslie, MO.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Champion City Methodist Church, Leslie, MO.
