Linda K. Slankard
Linda K. Slankard, age 71, of Sullivan, MO,passed away Friday, March 8, 2019 at her home.
Linda Kay Spoon was born on December 31, 1947 in Marked Tree, AR, the daughter of Vernon and Monica (Hand) Spoon. As a young girl, Linda and her family lived in various places, before coming to Sullivan. On June 28, 1967, Linda was united in marriage to Richard Slankard, and they raised four daughters together; Stephanie, Stacie, Sonia and Erin. As a family, they had to make several moves due to the demands of Richard’s job, but they finally settled in Sullivan in 1981. Linda drove a school bus for many years, worked at Meramec Caverns in Stanton, and was employed as a clerk at Washington Metal Fabricators. She retired in 2006. Linda enjoyed collecting beanie babies, she loved BINGO, and also liked to play Dominos and Scrabble. She loved her dogs, Phoebe, Birdy and Boo. Linda also enjoyed floating down the river and spending time with her family, especially her sisters. She will be lovingly remembered and missed by her family and friends.
Linda is survived by her four children, Stephanie Richardson and husband, Jeff, of St. Peters, MO, Stacie Paul and husband, Patrick, of Sullivan, MO, Sonia Slankard (Tommy Maher) of St. Louis City, MO, and Erin Slankard of St. Louis, MO; three grandchildren, Kyle Schoolcraft of St. Peters, MO, Haley Allen and husband, Gary, of St. Peters, MO, and Sarah Savage of Guam; five great-grandchildren, Austin, Jack, Charlotte, Lincoln and Kai Michael; two brothers, David Spoon and wife, Doris, of Bourbon, MO, and Charlie Spoon of Bourbon, MO; two sisters, Susan Huff of Sullivan, MO, and Janice Stack of Beaufort, MO; nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Slankard; her parents, Vernon and Monica (Hand) Spoon; one brother, Vernon Spoon; and one sister, Barbara White.
It was Linda’s wish to be cremated. There will be no services at this time.
All arrangements were under the care of the Eaton Funeral Home of Sullivan & Bourbon, MO.
