Leroy A. Schatz

Leroy A. Schatz, age 81 of Sullivan passed away Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at Mercy Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.

Leroy Aloise was born on February 17, 1936 at Spring Bluff, Missouri to Richard and May (Johan) Schatz. He honorably served his country in the United States Marines Corp from January 26, 1957 to January 26, 1959. He was united in marriage to Virginia Eggers on April 17, 1958. She preceded Leroy in death on December 12, 1989. He later married Patricia Kocinski in May of 1991 and together they blended their families. Patricia also preceded Leroy in death on October 21, 2014. Leroy was employed by John Fabick Tractor Company for many years and eventually retired from there. Mr. Schatz was baptized into the Catholic faith and was a dedicated member of St. Anthony Catholic Church. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus, Masonic Lodge #69 A.F. and A.M. and Sullivan I.O.O.F. Lodge #156. Leroy was a hard- working man who loved his country and his family.

He is survived by his son, Mark J. Schatz and wife Valerie of Sullivan; one daughter, Linda Adams and husband Rick of Sullivan; daughter in law, Christina Schatz of Sullivan, five step-children; Marcella Morris and husband Ray of Owensville, Marie Kocinski and Rick Farris of Bourbon, Mike Kocinski and wife Rosalie of Owensville, Marjorie Kublick and husband Dan of Sullivan, Mark Kocinski and wife Karen of Sullivan; four grandchildren, Andrea Moore and husband Peter, Dylan and Michael Alexander Schatz and Brian Johns; a host of step-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Louis Schatz and wife Jean of Afton, Agnes Price and husband Harland of Sullivan, Fredrick “Ed” Schatz and wife Irene of Virginia, Virginia Blankenship and husband Dewayne of St. Louis, George “Les” Schatz and wife Leola of Sullivan, Robert Schatz and wife Pat of Sullivan, Marie Spencer of Florida and Mary Schafer and husband Wayne of Sullivan; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Leroy was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and May (Johan) Schatz; spouses, Virginia Eggers Schatz and Patricia Kocinski Schatz; his son, Michael Schatz; and eight siblings, Richard and Josephine Schatz, James and Ruth Schatz, Herbert and Katheryn Schatz, Gertrude and Bill Newman, Francis, Lawrence and Allen Schatz.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 11 a.m., Monday, August 28, 2017 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Sullivan with Father Paul Telken officiating. Interment was in St. Anthony Cemetery, Sullivan, Missouri.

Visitation was from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday, August 28, 2017 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan, Missouri.

All arrangements were under the care of the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan, Missouri.
