Leroy Jarma

Leroy Jarma, age 80, of St. Clair, MO, passed away on Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at his daughter’s home, surrounded by family.     

Leroy was born on January 21, 1939 in Little River-Academy, TX, the son of Robert John and Modene Estella (Guy) Jarma. He grew up and attended school in Temple, TX. Leroy joined the United States Navy as a young man, where he served as a Boiler-Room helper for eight years on the USS Prairie and USS Johnston. He was united in marriage to Margo May Edwards on April 27, 1962, and to this union, four children were born:  Donald, Patrick, Melody and Dawn. They made their home in Goldsmith, TX, where Leroy went to work driving a truck and transporting Sulphur. Leroy and Margo were later divorced and Leroy moved to Missouri in 1975. He was married to Carole L. Null on April 4, 1976, and to this union, one child was born, Christy. He continued driving commercial trucks through the years and finally retired in 2004. Leroy loved working on his cars and “playing mechanic”. He also enjoyed old country music and playing guitar. Leroy held close to his faith in Jesus Christ and was a member of New Testament Baptist Church, where he was involved with their bus ministry for ten plus years. He will be lovingly remembered and missed by his family and friends.                                                                                                                                              Leroy is survived by three sons, Donald E. Jarma and wife, Samantha, of Jasper, GA, Patrick Lee Jarma and wife, Lisa, of Odessa, TX, and James E. Trefz and husband, Tony, of Kansas City, MO; three daughters, Melody Shotwell and husband, Ron, of Pasadena, TX, Dawn Jarma of Pasadena, TX, and Christy Jarma and fiancé, Burke, of Sullivan, MO; one brother, John Thomas “Jake” Jarma of TX; two sisters, Jacqueline Pickel of TX, and Carolyn Jane Mikeska of TX; nine grandchildren:  Kristy Morton and husband, Larry, of KY, James Shotwell of CO, Patricia Shotwell of TX, Sean Jarma and wife, Meghan, of TX, Ethan Jarma of TX, Meagan Jarma of MS, Matthew Scott of TX, Chantell Jarma of TX, and Allen “AJ” Immekus and wife, Tashia, of Sullivan, MO; seven great-grandchildren:  Makenzie, David, Gabe, Ella, Willow, Wesley, and Audriella, plus two more great-grandchildren expected this summer; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his infant son, Leroy Michael; his parents, Robert John and Modene Estella (Guy) Jarma; two brothers, Harold Lee and Robert John Jarma; and one sister, Genevieve Miguel.

Memorial contributions, in Leroy’s name, may be made to:  Alternative Hospice.

All arrangements were under the care of the Eaton Funeral Home of Sullivan & Bourbon, MO.
