Laura L. Holmes
Laura L. Holmes, 64, of Sullivan, MO, passed away Sunday, November 19, 2017 at her home surrounded by her family.
Laura Louise Nickell was born on June 19, 1953 in Lawton, OK, to the late Alvin and Wanda (Hendricks) Nickell. She was raised in Lawton and lived there for many years; relocating to Sullivan, MO in 1993. While living in Lawton, Laura was employed by Charley’s Drive Inn for approximately 25 years and she also worked in child care. In Sullivan, Laura worked at Comfort Inn. On January 12, 1972, Laura was united in marriage to her first husband, Robert Robinson. Of this union, two children were born, Christina and Robert. On June 10, 1994, Laura was united in marriage to Jack Holmes, who preceded her in death. Laura was very competitive and loved game night. She loved to dance, play Dominos and Bingo, especially with her mom, and sewing. Most of all, Laura loved her children and grandchildren.
Laura is survived by her children, Christina Robinson of Sullivan, MO; Robert Robinson, Jr. and wife Wanda of Cuba, MO; one step-daughter, Jackie Herpolshiemer and husband Roy of Monks Corner, SC; five grandchildren, Ashley Sullivan and Allan Shavrnoch, both of Sullivan, MO; Trenton Reeves Robinson of Cuba, MO; Terry Reeves, Jr. and wife Jessica of Steelville, MO; and Dalton Reeves of Nashville, TN; five great-grandchildren, Trinity Holmes of Sullivan, MO; Carmen and Adrian Reeves of Cuba, MO; Kailey and Kyla Bennett of Steelville, MO; one sister, Tina Nickell of Lawton, OK; one brother, Timmy Nickell of Oklahoma City, OK; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Laura was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Wanda (Hendricks) Nickell; two brothers, Ralph and Wilson Nickell; and two sisters, Charlotte Lantz Nickell and Faye Duncan Nickell.
A gathering of family and friends was held from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan, MO.
All arrangements were under the care of the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan and Bourbon, MO.
