Larry D. Gillespey
Larry D. Gillespey, age 67, of Sullivan, MO, passed away at his home on Saturday, April 25, 2020.
Larry Dean Gillespey was born March 2, 1953 in Sullivan, MO, the son of Jack J. and Sylvia I. (Bailey) Gillespey. He grew up and attended school in Sullivan. Larry was united in marriage to Sherry Kitchen on December 31, 1975. To their union three children were born: Tara, Jack II and Amanda. Larry and Sherry were later divorced. Larry drove a truck for most of his life, doing most of his driving in the west. He worked with Woody Bogler Trucking out of Rosebud and KR Wilson out of Bourbon.
Those closest to Larry had a few nicknames for him…such as “Roach” and “Uncle Wooley Booger”. He was also known for his “ZZ top” beard. Larry was known to work on model cars and diesels. He also loved motorcycles and was definitely a Harley man. Larry loved his family and greatly enjoyed family gatherings at Easter time.
Larry is survived by his 3 children: Tara Comacho and her husband, Rigoberto of Washington, MO, Jack Gillespey II of Bourbon, MO, and Amanda Delmont and husband, Jered, of Springfield, MO; 12 grandchildren: Dylan Summers, Steffanie Summers and fiancé, Dakota Peak, Robert Schroeder III and special friend, Cory Yoderson-Williamson, Gabriela Camacho, Hailee Camacho, Reyna Camacho, Rigoberto Camacho, Jack Gillespey, Jr., Sydney Stewart and husband, Trevor, Seth Gillespey, Piper Delmont, and Cooper Delmont; two brothers, Ralph Beers of Stanton, MO, and Mike Beers and wife, Marcie, of Sullivan, MO; one sister, Terry Sue Beers of Sullivan, MO; and numerous nieces and nephews and lifelong friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Randy Gillespey and Jerry Beers; and one sister, Patsy Beers.
Cremation arrangements have taken place, with private graveside services to be held at a later date.
