Joanne Rodgers
Joanne Rodgers, age 88, of Sullivan passed away Friday, June 7, 2019 at Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan.
Mary Joanne Rodgers was born June 4, 1931 in Cuba, MO, to Russell and Helen Guion (Myers). She grew up and attended school in various places in Missouri. Joanne graduated from Sullivan High School in 1949 and got married to Jimmie Dace later that year. To this union was one son, Larry. As a family, they lived in Sullivan, Joanne worked at Ramsey Corporation then eventually the Bank of Sullivan. She also was a member of the Sullivan Hospital Auxilliary. On August 7, 1993, Joanne married Don Rodgers and inherited two more children, Doug and Karen. Joanne spent her free time loving on her dogs, fishing, crocheting, playing bingo and pinochle, and line dancing. After Don and Joanne’s retirement in 1995, together they enjoyed many lovely years of travelling.
Joanne is survived by her husband, Don Rodgers; three children: Larry Dace and his wife, Brenda, of Sullivan, Douglas Rodgers and his wife, Michele, of Davenport, FL, and Karen Ryan of Sullivan; six grandchildren: Stacey Lanigan of Sullivan, Nicole Lanigan of Camdenton, MO, Jenna Ryan of Seattle, WA, Mary Ryan of Honolulu, HI, Samantha Rodgers of Tokyo, Japan, and Brendan Rodgers of Sullivan; two great-grandchildren, Kaleb White and Remi Bruning both of Sullivan; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Jimmie Dace; and her parents.
Funeral services were held 11 a.m., Tuesday, June 11, 2019 at Grace United Methodist Church in Sullivan, with Pastor Donna Schofield-Dolle and Rev. Jimmie Ray Dace as the officiants. Burial followed at I.O.O.F. Memorial Cemetery in Sullivan.
Visitation was held from 4-8 p.m., Monday, June 10, 2019 at Grace United Methodist Church in Sullivan.
