Joanna M. LaChance, age 94 of Sullivan, MO passed away Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at Meramec Nursing Center.

Joanna May was born on November 4, 1925 in Bonne Terre, MO, the daughter of Earl and Libbie (Hubbard) Jinkerson. She was married to her late husband, Robert LaChance, in 1953. Together they raised three daughters: Rita, Linda and Mary Ann. They moved to Sullivan in 1958 and built their home on East Street, where they lived the rest of their married life. 

After her children were grown, Joanna returned to school and completed her education. She worked as a dietician at the Sullivan Hospital for ten years. She had many hobbies, including embroidery, sewing quilts, bingo and playing cards with friends. The family enjoyed many years of fishing and entertaining friends on the river at the family cabin.

Joanna was an active member of the Sullivan Eagles, a charter member of the Sullivan VFW and a member of Grace United Methodist Church. Up until her passing, she still enjoyed playing bingo and taking day trips to gamble.

Joanna is survived by three daughters: Rita Moon and husband, Leroy, of Sullivan, MO, Linda Gann of Pacific, MO and Mary Ann Splittorff of Bourbon, MO; four grandchildren: Donna LaPorte of Sullivan, MO, Rob Harmon and wife, KayCee, of Casper, WY, Jodi Cloninger and husband, Kevin, of Chesterfield, MO and Lauren Gann of St. Louis, MO; six great-grandchildren: Rebecca Guylon, Christopher LaPorte, Kimee Harmon, Melissa Harmon and Drew and Ryan Cloninger; five great-great-grandchildren: Kollin, Kyrstin, Kegan, Kylie and Brayden; nieces & nephews, other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert S. LaChance; her parents, Earl and Lillie (Hubbard) Jinkerson; two brothers, Bob Jinkerson and Donald Jinkerson; two sisters, Peggy Hanson and June Wigger; and three sons-in-law, Sherman Gann, Bill Splittorff and Donnie Harmon. 

Funeral services were conducted 2 p.m., Sunday, November 17, 2019 at the Eaton Funeral Home is Sullivan. Interment followed in Bourbon Cemetery.

Visitation was held from 12:30  p.m. to 2 p.m., Sunday, at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan, MO.

Memorial contributions in Joanna’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
