Jimmy D. Whitehead, Sr., 76, of Bourbon, Missouri passed away Saturday, December 30, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family.

Jimmy Dale was born on December 1, 1941 to Charles Wayne and Ruby Lee (Higgens) Whitehead in Paragould, Arkansas. He grew up in St. Louis and was united in marriage to Ludena Ann Nettle on August 30, 1963. They remained in St. Louis until 1986 when he and Ludena moved to Bourbon. Jimmy was employed as a truck driver for several years and for 18 years by the Chrysler Corporation. Jimmy loved to cook and was known for his bread and roll making and also his dressing. He loved sailing, camping, traveling and playing the guitar. Most of all, he loved his family and riding motorcycles with his good friend, Dennis.

Jimmy is survived by his wife, Ludena (Nettle) Whitehead of Bourbon, MO; four children, Jenifer Whitehead of Bourbon and companion, Randy Nolie of Sullivan, MO; Christopher Whitehead and wife, Karen, of Pacific, MO; Jimmy D. Whitehead, Jr. and wife, Amy, of Springfield, MO; Sarah Haag of Portland, OR and companion Phillip Almarez; 10 grandchildren: Michael Griffin and wife Amy, Krystal Meyer and husband Steven, Timothy Getzin, Christopher Whitehead, Ruby Whitehead, Sierra Hoaglin, Jasa Whitehead, T. J., Devon and Kyle Johnson, Kyle Stafford and Mariah Hoaglin; six great-grandchildren: Salena Griffin, Abigail Meyer, Jackson Hoaglin, Cayson Johnson, Julian Kuikendall and baby boy Meyer on the way; two brothers, Paul Whitehead and wife Rita of Warrenton, MO; Wayne Whitehead and wife Cathy of Washington, MO; motorcycle riding buddy, Dennis Julian; nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Ruby (Higgens) Whitehead.

Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m., on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with Pastor Harold Harrison officiating. Interment followed in Bourbon Cemetery.

Visitation was held from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m., Wednesday, at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan.
