James W. Roy, 94, of Sullivan, passed away, Thursday, October 26, 2017 at his home.

Mr. Roy, son of the late Beatie and Fanny Roy was born September 25, 1923 in Judsonia, AR.

On July 3, 1942 he was united in marriage to Mary Carwile in Denmark, AR.

James worked for the CC in Boise, ID, clearing roads for the Forrester’s. Later he went onto work at Terminal Railroad in Madison, IL as a Switchmen until his retirement.

He enjoyed all types of hunting, training hunting dogs and loved horseback riding.

James was preceded in death by his parents, Beatie and Fanny Roy; his second father, John Taylor; one brother, Leslie Roy and three sisters, Elgia Parker, Almadean Shut and Noni Coburn.

He is survived by his wife Mary Roy of Sullivan; one son, James Roy of Hannibal; two daughters, Alice Brown and husband Eugene of Washington and Peggy Grimm and husband John of Sullivan; six grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.

A memorial Visitation will be held 11 a.m. - 12 noon on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at Midlawn Funeral Home, Union with services at 12 noon. Visit www.midlawn.com for an online register book.

Memorial donations to BJC Hospice, Sullivan are preferred.
