James (Freddie) Bledsoe, ago 90, of Sullivan, MO, passed away Thursday, February 14, 2019 at Phelps Health in Rolla, MO.

Freddie was born on July 12, 1928 in Sullivan, MO, the son of Frederick and Lucy (West) Bledsoe. He attended school in Sullivan, graduating from Sullivan High School, Class of 1946.  Following graduation, he was employed by International Shoe Company for a short while. He then went to work at the Pacco Plant when it opened in Sullivan and remained with this company for 35 years, until ill health forced his early retirement.  Freddie honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.  On May 28, 1951, Freddie was united in marriage to Myrl Thurmond, and to this union one son was born, James Frederick Bledsoe, Jr.  Freddie was an avid hunter and loved to fish.  He also loved woodworking, and this became his hobby after he was disabled. 

Freddie is survived by his wife, Myrl of Sullivan, MO; one son, Jay Bledsoe and wife, Jana, of Ashland, MO; twin granddaughters, Chris Bledsoe and husband, Spencer Robinson, of Columbia, MO, and Cathy Bledsoe and husband, Eric George, of Lititz, PA; one great-grandchild, Logan Cavanaugh of Columbia, MO; one sister, Lucille Davis and husband, Art, of Inez, KY; sister-in-law, Viola Bryant and husband, Tom, of Sullivan, MO; fives nieces and one nephew; special friends, Howard and Mae Fredeking and Ed Herr.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frederick Eli and Lucy (West) Bledsoe; brother-in-law, Dale Thurmond; and two sisters-in-law, Estalee Thurmond and Betty Biermann.

Funeral Services were conducted 11:30 a.m., Saturday, February 23, 2019 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan, with Rev. Ed Hatcher as the officiant. Burial followed in I.O.O.F. Memorial Cemetery in Sullivan.

Visitation was held from 9:30-11:30 a.m., Saturday, at the Eaton Funeral Home.

Memorial Contributions may be given to Parkinson’s Foundation or Old Cave Spring Cemetery in Sullivan.
