James “Jimmy” R. Hardin

James Ralph Hardin, 63, of Sullivan, Missouri passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 7, 2020 in Saint Clair, Missouri. 

Jimmy was born in Joliet, Illinois, on May 30, 1957, to James and Louise (Beck) Hardin. He and his family then moved to Steelville, Missouri, where he grew up. As a young man, Jimmy went to work at a factory and spent most of his working life working in various factories. Later in his life, he especially enjoyed working at Huzzah Valley Resort. Jimmy was united in marriage to his first wife, Sandra Jones, on June 26, 1976, and to their union four children were born: Amy, Scott, Ricky & Wesley. Sadly, they later divorced. 

On June 26, 2001, Jimmy was united in marriage to his second wife, Linda Stricklin, and to this union two children were born: Urilla and Roman. Later, he married Connie Declue on November 23, 2006. 

Jimmy enjoyed going to yard sales, antiquing, working on old cars, and was always available to fix something as needed. He loved to watch and listen to gospel music. Jimmy was a good grandfather who loved his grandchildren unconditionally. He also loved his dog, Buddy. 

Jimmy is survived by his wife, Connie Hardin of Sullivan, MO; six children: Amy Gray and husband, Joe, of Steelville, MO, Scott Hardin and wife, Becky, of Steelville, MO, Ricky Hardin of Leasburg, MO, Wesley Hardin of Sullivan, MO, Urilla Hardin of Steelville, MO, and Roman Hardin of Steelville, MO; two step-children, Amanda Williams and husband, Nick, of Bourbon, MO, and Amy Schluter and husband, Brady, of Sullivan, MO; fifteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Danny Hardin and wife, Susi, of Holden, MO, and Wayne Hardin and wife, Barb, of Steelville, MO; one sister, Tina Schindler and partner, Eva Moore, of Steelville, MO; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Robin Warren and Sue McCall; and a brother, Donald Strieler. 

Funeral services were held at 12 Noon, Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan, with Pastor Jerry Beers officiating. Burial followed in New Home Cemetery in Steelville.

Visitation was held from 10 a.m.  to 12  noon, Tuesday, prior to the funeral service at Eaton Funeral Home.
