Howard Henson

Howard Henson, 76, of Sullivan, went home to be with the Lord Jesus Christ his Savior on Saturday, November 25, 2017, surrounded by his family.

Howard William was born on August 8, 1941 in St. Louis, MO to William and Bernice (Helm) Henson. The Henson family moved to Sullivan in 1948, where Howard attended and graduated from Sullivan High School class of 1959. He was active in baseball, basketball and track as a hurdler. He received an Associate’s Degree in math from H.L.G. and was student body president from 1960 -1961. On August 27, 1960, Howard was united in marriage to Connie R. Campbell and they were blessed with four children; Kelly, Tom, Tricia and Karen.

Howard was employed by Meramec Mining Company from April 1962 to December 1977. At its time of closing, he was managing the warehouse. He then went to work at Meramec Industries (later Meramec Group) from May 1979 to April 2007. Positions he held while there included; Production scheduling, purchasing, traffic and customer service.

Howard was a faithful and dedicated Christian and member of Temple Baptist Church from 1964 to present. He served as deacon (1972), Sunday school teacher, Chairman of Deacons, Board Chairman and in the choir and music team. Howard was also involved in Casa (Court Appointed Special Advocate) and enjoyed helping children in foster care. He loved and nurtured his family and faithfully taught them to serve the Lord. He enjoyed watching youth sports, especially his grandchildren. He also played a little golf along the way.

Howard is survived by his loving wife, Connie; three daughters, Kelly Henson of Union, MO; Tricia Blankenship and husband John of Rosebud, MO; and Karen Derrington and husband Billy of St. Peters, MO; special daughters, Michelle Shetley of Sullivan, MO and Cindy Boyster of Union, MO; a sister, Linda Blackwell and husband Noel of Salem, MO; a brother, Dennis Henson and wife Linda of Murfreesboro, TN; brother and sister-in-law, Mike and Judy Hoevelmann of Sullivan, MO; ten grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Howard was preceded in death by his son, Thomas William Henson; his parents, Bill and Bernice Henson; and his parents-in-law, Al and Vanda Humphrey.

Funeral Services were conducted at 11 a.m., Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at Temple Baptist Church in Sullivan with Pastor Scott Perry officiating. Burial will follow at I.O.O.F. Memorial Cemetery in Sullivan.

Visitation was held from 3-8 p.m., Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at Temple Baptist Church in Sullivan.

In lieu of flowers, memorials contributions to Mid Ozark CASA, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Backstoppers or Temple Baptist Church Domestic Adoption Fund are appreciated.

All arrangements were under the care of the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan.
