Hal was born on June 29, 1948 to Elsie Alene (Goodman) Vawter and the late William Oliver Vawter, in St. Louis, MO. He grew up and graduated from Roosevelt High School class of 1965 and received a commercial Art Degree in St. Louis. Later in life, Hal received a Culinary Degree in Paris, France. Hal had a big voice and he always brightened up any room he entered. You could always feel the love and care he had for others. Hal will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

Hal is survived by his mom, Alene (Goodman) Vawter; brothers and sister, Lindell Vawter (wife, Bonnie), Mike Vawter (wife, Judy), Keith Vawter (wife, Terri), Debbie Anderson (husband, Jim) and Kenny Vawter (wife, Jo Ann); nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Hal was preceded in death by his father, William O. Vawter; one brother, Marcus Dale Vawter and one sister-in-law, Debby Booth Vawter.

It was Hal’s wish to donate his body to Washington University in the hope of helping others.

A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday, April 12, 2018 with a time of sharing at 6 p.m., all at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan, MO.
