Frieda G. West of Bourbon, MO, was born to the union of August and Amanda (Wehking) Hans on Sunday, July 24, 1927 in Hermann, MO. She left from this life on Sunday, November 26, 2017 at Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan, MO at the age of 90 years.

Frieda was united in marriage to Irvin “Shorty” West on December 6, 1947 in Overland, MO. To this union four children were born Bruce, Linda, Barbara and Carol.

Frieda worked at Curtis Manufacturing Company in St. Louis prior to becoming a homemaker. She loved taking care of and spoiling her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. At the young age of 62, she acquired her driver’s license.

She was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church of Bourbon. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, watching the Price is Right, baseball and wrestling, Rick Flair was her favorite.

Frieda was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, aunt, great aunt and friend of many. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Frieda is preceded in death by her parents August and Amanda (Wehking) Hans; husband Irvin “Shorty” West; twin sister Elfrieda Busch; four brothers Erwin, Alvin, Charles and William Hans.

Those who are left to treasure her memory and to continue her legacy are her four children Bruce West of Tebbetts, MO, Linda Sorg of West Plains, Missouri, Barbara Carron and significant other Jerry Milligan of Leasburg, Missouri, Carol and husband James Hofstetter of Bourbon, MO; four grandchildren Michael and wife Donna West, Jennifer and husband Jimmy Harmon, Kyle and Keenan Hofstetter; four great-grandchildren Will West, Alisha and husband Aaron Baird, Melissa West and Carissa Harmon; one great-great-grandchild Kasen Baird; nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and many friends.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 from 5-8 p.m. at Mizell Funeral Home 904 W. Washington St. Cuba, MO.

Funeral service was held on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church of Bourbon with Pastor Don Covington, officiating. Special recorded music will be “The Old Rugged Cross” and “Will the Circle Be Unbroken.”

Interment and prayers will follow at Crow Cemetery, Bourbon, MO.

If desired, memorials would be appreciated to the First United Methodist Church of Bourbon 610 Olive St. Bourbon, MO 65441, in Frieda’s memory.
