Fred H. Marshall, age 78, of Sullivan, MO, passed away unexpectedly, following a brief illness, on Thursday, March 29, 2018, at his home in Sullivan.

Fred was born on June 3, 1939 to Homen and Marie (Morrison) Marshall, in St. James, MO. He was the youngest of two children. Fred excelled at the following sports: basketball, track and golf. After graduating from St. James High School, he attended the Missouri School of Mines and Metallurgy (now known as Missouri S&T) and received a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. While in college, Fred was a member of Delta Upsilon Fraternity – Missouri Chapter. In 1961, Fred enlisted in the United States Army, where he served overseas as a combat engineer and rose to the rank of 1st Lieutenant. He was honorably discharged in 1968. Following his years of service, Fred owned and operated Highway Transportation Company and Marshall Trucking Company, with terminals in Sullivan, Cuba, St. James, St. Louis, Kansas City and Springfield. Fred will be remembered as a bright and generous man who lived life to the fullest and enjoyed time spent with family and friends.

Fred is survived by two children, Thomas E. Marshall (wife, Linette) of Columbia, MO and Nancy Marshall Avioli (husband, Michael) of Town & Country, MO; one sister, Anita Coates (husband, John) of Williamsburg, VA; six grandchildren, Louis, Liam and Paul Avioli, Ashley (Marshall) Mayer (husband, Dustin) of Dexter, MO, John Marshall of St. James, MO and Derrick White of Cincinnati, OH; two great grandchildren, Lillian and Abigail Mayer; nieces, Michelle Dougas and Melissa Bolino; special and dear friend, Audrey James; other relatives and friends.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Homen E. and D. Marie (Morrison) Marshall; and one grandson, Samuel Diehl.

Visitation was held from 10 a.m. to 12 Noon, Thursday, April 5, 2018 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan.

Funeral Services were conducted 12 Noon, Thursday, at the Eaton Funeral Home, with Pastor Ron Koppelman officiating.
